What did you do today?

Moment of reflection.... On this day 20 years ago I failed my driver's test. They were not fond of left foot braking. Later that night at the race track I set fast time and won the feature.
I have been left foot braking for over 50 years. I learned to drive with a clutch, and everyone but my dad told me to not use the left foot for braking. The clutch pedal is for starting motion and is not needed to up shift or down shift.

(I use the gas pedal for shifting)

I was taught left foot braking too, in a racing/defensive driving course I took years ago.

Clutchless shifting isn't very good for typical synchronized automotive transmissions, but I've done it too. It works great in constant mesh (motorcycle) transmissions, and large truck transmissions.

Oval tracks I was always left foot brake instinctively. Road course I heel toed it. Depending on what I'm driving dictates my clutch usage. And I don't really think about it.

My daily driver I right foot brake. Dad's 610 hp Corvette... Left foot.

Right foot brake for most things. Left foot braking in heavy traffic. Left foot braking when pulling vehicles up on ramps to do oil change. Also, why is it that every set of ramps I see for that are made for tires that are like 4 inches wide?

Right foot braking is for geezers that can't remember to keep their foot of the gas when reducing speed or stopping. Also for those who do not know what rudder pedals in a plane are used for.

Heel/Toe Brake/Gas and left foot Clutch in a manual transmission vehicle (if i'm ever in one again). Last manual car I had was a BMW X3. Hsd to special order it and when it expired, they had stopped offering it in X3's in the USA.

I can tell ya that putting in the clutch with your left foot really freaks out the guy behind ya if you are driving an automatic

Today I programmed two pocket fobs for the new garage door opener. I was about to send them back to the Zon when I decided to read the instructions for the fobs. I had to switch them in to the other 'mode' to work with the opener.

Better than ladders or climbing. I own one lift (platform that puts your feet up to 24' in the air, mostly used to change the lights in my hangar) and have rented and used all other manor of lifts. The fun one was driving a boom lift between the booths in an internet trade show (you put the boom as close to straight up as you can get it to decrease the footprint and get a better view.

Margy wanted me to replace our exterior floods with ring cameras and even though I do have a 30' extension ladder, the ground behind my hangar isn't the best for scaling with a ladder. Since I had five cameras to install, off to the rental center for a boom lift. Made it easy.

Instructions are just another mans opinion...

I had a Home Improvement tee shirt that said “real men don’t need instructions”.

I often wore it for my flying lessons - my instructor was ok with it, I guess. She never commented on it

Growing up on the farm, of course, we used loader buckets. My grandpa accidentally dumped me out only once.

Our contractor when building our house went to an occupational safety class. The day after he got back I caught him retrieving something by standing in the loader bucket. I inquired if they'd covered that.

If OSHA had come to Alaska and watched my grandpa and me working when I was a teenager, they couldn’t have issued any violations…they’d all have heart attacks and die watching us. There’s just something about a 15-year-old hanging off the end of a building roof manipulating a chainsaw with one hand to cut roof stringers to length that would throw panic into normal people. ;)

My oldest daughter was helping teach her sister to drive. She had her convinced that the stop signs with a white border meant they were optional.

Back to the question at hand, hiked solo with the grand-dog for the sixth day in a row (daughter is visiting east coast friends, M'lady is off keeping us solvent). Touched up some paint scuffs around the abode. Sold some heirloom gold M'lady did not want, to get cash to finally dress up the only ring I could afford back when it mattered. Gave grand-dog back to he who should be in law, discussed the heirloom gold sale with him, and casually mentioned there are heirloom diamonds gathering dust. Vacuumed grand-dog hair around the abode for an hour, steak and potato and bourbon for dinner.

Cut the trip to 6Y9 short and texted my dentist this after we landed.

Hate to bother you on a weekend, but having serious pain issues and need to get in soon. Yesterday pain was so bad, from about 2pm to 2 am, I had over 2000mg of ibuprofen and 3500mg of acetaminophen along with 6 shots of whiskey that I held in my mouth to just numb it. Had to finish the night off with 2 benadryl just to knock me out. Today starting at 8am, another 2400mg of ibu and 3000mg acetaminophen and its not working.

I hope his reply wasn’t, “take two aspirin and call the office on Monday.”

Best wishes to get it resolved soon.

I'd imagine you're on the brink of playing dentist yourself with that amount of pain.

When I had a wisdom tooth yanked I went to a dentist. Do not recommend.

Numbed me up. "Is your tongue still tingling?" Yeah. "Really?" Yeah. "Well...let's shoot you up a bit more" waits a couple minutes. "Alright, let's get that thing out". Finally gets the thing out. Drops it in the tray. Packs me full of gauze.

"I don't think we numbed you all the way." YOU MF-er!

"Ok, if you're still in pain in a few hours call in and I'll write a prescription"

4 hours later I'm dying. I don't take pain killers. Didn't take anything after an appendectomy. But I needed something. Call in and his wife says.... Oh, just take a few ibuprofen. **** YOU!

This all started after an implant put in last fall. Off and on, but never this sever or prolonged. Couldn't find anything previously on the 360 scan. Maybe we can this time. And I need something better for my liver.

You might consider a consult with an OMFS. They’re MDs that also went through dental school.

My father-in-law is known to have pulled at least one of his own teeth with needle nose pliers. Tough son of gun. I don't know if I could do it, and I hope I never have to try.

I had an implant years ago they didn't align correctly. The threaded portion broke inside the bone, it was loose. I grabbed some pliers, and paper towel for some better grip on the tooth portion. I pulled a little and figured I could do it. SO I took a deep breath, pulled, then heard and felt clunk, clunk, clunk, as I pulled the broken portion of the implant out of the bone. The clunking was the threads jumping through the bone.

I called the oral surgeon and he was like "You did what?!?!"

Watched some YouTube Videos of Pipistrel Sinus Flying in Preparation for attempting to earn a Glider Rating next week.

As a “Did you know” item Sinus means Sine Wave in Slovenian. Actually adopted in recognition of the fuselage shape and Pipistrel means Bat (the flying kind).
