What did you do today?

Grandkids are here. Promised them a boat ride (Margy's boat) and plane ride. Looks like the weather won't support the plane ride. Margy calls and says the boat is running funny. Sure enough, seems to have developed an ignition miss. Change the plugs in the Yamaha outboard while hanging off the boat, through some fresh fuel and fuel conditioner in just to be sure. Runs a lot smoother now.

LOL! Lots of loose rocks on that trail, and SWMBO took a moderate tumble. She has a nice crop of bruises ripening into a palette of colors tonight.
You may also want to check her for ticks

He's in Seward fishing. How'd you do?
Was way too warm, temps around prudhoe were close to 80, bugs were on another level. Oh well, caught a lot of grayling.

Headed to Montana and Idaho in 3 weeks as well, elk and mule deer.

Changed ANOTHER Aero Classic tube. I thought I had gotten rid of all these stupid things. Surprise surprise, another pinhole. This makes 3 in 5 years. Infuriating.

We also washed all the Oshkosh & Colorado dirt off and "went for a fly" as John says

August in ATL. And wife now is into dropping mulch, planting flowers, etc. Going outside and doing anything makes me feel like I'm running in and out of Chernobyl.

Drove a little over 1,000 miles - started out at 1:30 am in Cali. I am now in Laramie, Wyoming. I have 1,100 more to go.

Then a few days later I'm coming back.

Spent yesterday and this morning with my wife's brother and his family, then today visited Harper's Ferry. The old lathes and milling machines on display were really cool.

Tonight we're in Elkins, WV, and tomorrow we'll head toward New River Gorge.

1. Put in 800 miles from Laramie to some waypoint in Iowa near Illinois.

2. Checked in to the Bates Motel. Seriously, park at room, actual key, wifi? Oh, do you need an extra key for the Wifi? No I... never mind.

3. Set up a personal hot spot on my phone so I could pay some bills and do POA.

4. Made a fuel run to the truck stop, including a full tank of (no ethanol!) unleaded and fuel for me. Italian salad and a twelver of Ultra. You even had a choice between 10% ethanol and no ethanol in 87 AKI.

You should have stayed in Sac City, IA but it isn't on I-80. Get on I-74 and come get your free lunch.

Weighed myself for the first time since July 13 when I decided to stop eating like an *******(~6000 calories a day). Gained 24lbs of useful load in 41 days.

No pharma. Just will power.

The gas may not have had ethanol, but I'm betting that the Ultra did.

As for me, maneuvers practice towards the Commercial checkride. I apparently stink at anything involving the word or number "eight".

Had a beautiful drive to Lansing, WV, today and spent a little time in the national park before checking into our cabin. Hoping to do a little fishing tomorrow.

I flew up to Door County and then back home. Woo!

Fired up the grill, and figured I'd clean up my deck as the grill heated up. All good. Until I moved some collection of branches/leaves and was promptly stung 4x by bees! (Edit: or maybe wasps? Didn't stick around for positive ID)

Grill shutdown. Gonna cook inside tonight....

Probably not bees. But if they are I'll take them.

Up in Wisconsin we will deal with being stung if it means that we have a healthy bee colony. It's not fun to get stung, but we need the bees......

Went fly fishing in Babcock State Park. https://wvstateparks.com/parks/babcock-state-park/ What a beautiful park!

I had hoped to catch a trout or two in Glade Creek, but unfortunately this area had a heavy rainstorm and subsequent flood a week or two ago, and the creek is still pretty well blown out. Plus the last stocking was back in May. I tried fishing the creek near the old grist mill for an hour or so before deciding it was pointless, then drove down to the lake. Most of the shoreline is heavily vegetated, making a backcast impossible, but I managed to catch some bluegill close to shore.

Not quite what I had hoped for, but it was still a fun day and we enjoyed some truly lovely scenery. Tomorrow we'll do a little more sightseeing and maybe a little hiking in New River Gorge.

Got back from my furthest trip north yet a few days ago! Red Lake Ontario CYRL! Neat little spot - BYOC (bring your own chaulks). More float planes than bears! Caravans and nice beavers mostly. Saw a wicket turbine DC3 do a bunch of freight runs.

Today ran people down to Bahamas and am in the process of airlining home. What to do on a long layover?

Get your steps in of course!

Spent the morning dealing with the insurance company after a knucklehead pulled out across traffic in front of a truck, that was politely waving him on, but didn't check that was coming up the turn lane. Rearranged the front end of our Volvo.

Spent the morning on the boat battery charger untill it got to warm, spent afternoon filling out the aircraft insurance quote request.

as long as it didn't include anything like FINALLY!!!

Did you succeed?
Nope. But I didn't actually try that hard. Anything to embarrass her I'm usually good with. But I actually dont mind the guy. So my attempt was more to spare him.

My sister saw my mom cursing on the ring camera trying to get wooden stakes in the ground. So she knew she was gonna have to have conversations with everyone in the neighborhood.

Left New River Gorge and started heading back south today. We stopped in Lancaster, SC, to visit the cemetery where my wife's parents are buried.

It's been a nice trip. If you like beautiful mountain streams and related scenery, NRG and the surrounding area is well worth a visit. If you want to fish, though, avoid August. Spring and fall are the best bets.

Was looking at a possible new abode with a marketeer. We visited the place when the owners were home and i noted several aircraft pictures on the walls.

The marketeer had to endure 30 minutes of pilot talk with about 15 minutes of house talk.

LOL! I hope it ended with you telling the realtor, "Thanks for your time, but I've decided to buy an airplane instead of a house."
:)

Finally got the Parrakeet on its new landing gear. Still a lot of work to be done, and the gear will have to come back off for painting after taxi testing, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm stealing the pool noodle idea.
