Making fun of ed is great fun, but overlooked in all of this, is that it was kind of genius to paint over just the brown. Makes it look like a completely different plane without having to paint the entire thing.
Desert pink P 40, and the quirks of war. We established air dominance before Italy was invaded. There were PT boats hunting ships, day and night, and their greatest fear was mis identification as enemy. The solution was to paint the bow deck signal orange!
The restored PT 305 at the WW 2 museum, New Orleans is from the Mediterranean, with that color scheme.

We were going to have some fun this year at rough River but it turned out there were too many moving parts and it didn't come together.
As a result of a really terrible T-Shirt company and some scheduling debacles you avoided showing up greeted by your fellow pilots sporting the latest fashion trend.
The good news is I think the heat is off of you because this year some guy turned around halfway there and backed out because there was a cloud in his way. But in his defense, it was a scary cloud!
