Exactly, how can someone be so crass to mention the mere defense of one's own life and that of their family from violent deadly assault as compared to the right of a homosexual to have the cake, flowers and venue of their choosing. Why can't people keep their attention on what's really important?!?

The government has no business sanctioning any personal relationships. There should not be such thing as legal marriage.

Everything should be a civil union and you should be able to enter that agreement with your lover, neighbor, plumber or a half dozen Mormon chicks and marriage should be only a sacrament like baptism or bar mitzvah.

So basically, I am not recognizing or respecting gay marriage until polygamists are afforded their civil rights.

Ah, but people are fickle and many relationships (straight or homosexual) don't last. Lawyers inevitably get involved and consequently the government must also.

This married (36 years - 1979 - 2015) gay guy had one of his best days ever yesterday. Though our marriage is already legal in CA, we rejoice for our brothers and sisters who weren't so lucky until yesterday.

In an ironic twist, I was in a cab in Bangalore, India, when I got the great news. Gay rights were recenty passed and then repealed here. Currently, being gay carries a life sentence. Eventually in will change here too.

I am out to all of my pilot friends, family, and at work. They all find a way to judge me by my character, flaws and all. Now I'm out at POA too!

For those pilots who face prejudice on the job, or just need the support of other airline captains, controllers, and GA pilots, click on over to the huge and growing NGPA: National Gay Pilots Association (http://www.ngpa.org/), where you'll find a wonderful group, recruiting by the major airlines, and a whole lot of fun (straights welcome too!).

That's silly IMO. Would you want to be an employee with shared medical expenses for eight women pregnant at once? That's a non religious, practical way to look at it.

I do believe the government part is civil marriage, with all the rights.
It's the religion that makes it a marriage. YMMV.

The courts don't need marriage to divide property.

True to some extent (again state based), but having a legally defined union makes it a little less complicated.

Perhaps you'd withdraw your issue with the issue if you had lived it.

And perhaps also, the post above may be correct. It may no longer be an issue except at the fringe. Whatever one might think, the issue has now been settled permanently, and we can move on.

If you can't afford to pay for 8 women to be pregnant out of your own pocket, maybe you shouldn't be putting yourself in that situation. My though process is you should be able to pay for everything you make a choice to do without deductions/insurance, etc.

Fantastic! It's a time for celebration for so many.

People who by birth 'belong' often don't get it what it's like to live otherwise. The country continues to live up to its great promise.

Honest question: it is drummed into hetero skulls that two gay people getting married doesn't have effect on their putative hetero marriage. If that is true, and thus every marriage is an island, why would any other pair of gay people getting married anywhere else have any effect on you or your relationship? In short, exactly why was it "one of [your] best days ever?"

And now the Supremes have trampled the constitution and States rights again.

I don't care either way about gay marriage, BUT, as a Federation of States, this issue should of been left to each state and the people of that state. If you live in a state that doesn't recognize gay marriage, then move to one that does.

The federal government had no business weighing in on this issue.

You can not put "gay rights" on the same moral equivalency as "slavery". :mad2:

If I said we live on planet Earth would you ask for a link to prove it?

You do realize that your kids have the same probability of being gay if they don't see any Pride parades or if you take them to see the parade.

You can pretend gays don't exist, but it doesn't change the statistics about your kid, and every other kid.

If it is "true", why not share the link? Fox News sometimes repeats a false anecdote and runs with it.

There is not a long laundry list.

Marriage has nothing to do with having children.

The States will issue licenses to 80 year old women.
