"Are you enjoying Magenta Line" LOL :D

FWIW, Android apps do the same thing. Just now I had to install an airline app for a flight tomorrow and within the first 5 minutes it asked me to rate+review it.
Do Android apps abuse the notifications facility to show you ads? For example, I like allowing Uber to notify me when the car shows up and/or explodes on the way to get me. But I had to turn off notifications because they spam me with ads the rest of my life. Same with “community alerts” for my Ring doorbell. These are supposed to be things like “there is a package thief reported working your neighborhood,” but I turned them off when I started to get community alerts like “Community alert!!! You should buy more crap from us, it’s a good deal!”

You are the product which is sold and will never again be a customer...

On top of that, if you disable notifications most of the apps will nag you to turn them back on - every single time you open them. I've recently decided that I just don't need a couple of apps, and am about to decide I don't need a few more. I will not waver from my position that the phone is here to serve me, not the other way around. Now, get off my lawn.

Due to that, and other privacy reasons, I try to use websites instead of apps whenever I can. The companies generally know that they get less data from you that way though and intentionally neuter the web functionality as a result.

Its on par with running hallways with sweats and a garbage bag on trying to drop 4 pounds in 2 hours cuz your wrestling coach forgot to tell you that you're going 135 and not the normal 140.

Your coach should've run those laps with you for forgetting to tell you that minor detail...

I was at the gym yesterday morning... even had sweat in my ears.

I drove to Salisbury (SBY) yesterday to do a bit of tinkering in the hangar. It was 102 in the shade. Needless to say there was very little tinkering accomplished. Same story today but I decided to stay home.

The older ones with the King autopilot didn’t need much of a jolt for them to kick off.
I've had this happen in the NGX. The same day that Delta CRJ went off and rolled in Toronto I was climbing out of ISP or FRG or somewhere on Long Island and it was Severe TURB in the transition layer from the lower airmass doing 20G40 to the mid layers where it was 80-100 out of the west. Hit a bump or two and even got the stall warning to go off!

A better question is who flies PC12s VFR?

I do as well, when I can. Of course then the web sites nag you incessantly to use their app (sigh) or cripple the web site, making some functions available only from the app. I used to email when I just stopped using one, but I quit once I figured out that they could not possibly care less -- if I'm not willing to give them access to all of my information, I'm simply not their target audience. they don't want me; I don't want them.

In my increasingly curmudgeonly retirement, I am finding more and more "convenience" and "entertainment" things that I can just live without and be happier.

Just got the plane out of the shop. Bought the plane last June, had to rebuild three cylinders last November to fix oil leaking into the cylinders (one had a broken ring, the other two were leaking through the valve guides). All fixed! Yeah! Started using oil again. Rinse and repeat on the final three cylinders, now I get to fly some nice X Country and break those guys in.

So, yeah! All fixed! Nothing else will go wrong now! ............................. :rolleyes2:
(OK, hoping nothing else major goes wrong, and hoping I've settled down to the normal/routine stuff).

Huh. I don't believe I have ever in my life heard of or seen cole slaw with a red sauce. Never seen it with other than a mayo-based sauce, with varying degrees of creamy/watery/vinegary/sugary being the primary differentiator.
Actually now I know what I was looking at a few times at things over the years lol

Haven't had the plane back for a day yet and I'm already thinking about when we're doing Gaston's 3M0 this year...?

I like shooting off fireworks. But I don’t understand the people who spend $2,000 on fireworks and shoot them all off before sunset on June 27, and every subsequent day through July 3. Why not just spend $14,000 one time and wait for the sun to go down on the 4th?

Beware of flying those X Country’s to high. I knew a guy whose new engine didn’t break in well because to much flight at high density altitudes kept the pressure in the cylinders low enough to interfere with getting the rings set properly. If wide open throttle has you below 75% power you may wanna get down to where you do. His was a C172 with an O360

I do. Well over 2000 PC-12 hrs with a fair amount of that VFR. Mostly in Alaska. Also had a pt. 91 gig in the L48 that was largely VFR due to relatively short flights. My current EMS employer allows VFR when it makes better sense than IFR.

Well, the rings either broke in correctly or I’ll have to deal with it somehow.

Today I learned a few things. 1) Corsicana TX doesn’t have Ubers or taxis really, not late at night. 2) the most I really want to walk to a hotel is about 2.5 miles.

Did you try hitchhiking?
Also, I hope you packed light and can get a ride back to the airport tomorrow!

The phrase my dad and I had back in the day was "Corsicana means construction!" I-45 is always under construction around Corsicana.

Eh - he probably got picked up overnight and is now part of a cult.
I don't think cults take pilots. Along the lines of "what's the difference between a cult leader and a pilot? A cult leader doesn't think he's a pilot." Slightly adjusted for relevancy.

I traded my wife's first car, 2011 Subaru Legacy Premium, for some work today. We bought it in Homer, AK 10 years ago and drove it home back to Gallup, NM. Been using it for a spare car since. It was a real powerhouse, reaching 0-60 MPH in just under 3 minutes. But the over all MPG between Homer, AK and Gallup, NM, 4004 miles, was 30.0.

Now she is on me for a new Subaru. She is only 4'9'' (without shoes) and Subs fit her well.

I did not try, but the trucks passing by were traveling so fast I doubt they ever even saw me.

It ended up being about 4.5sm walk, not horrible on its own, but there were no sidewalks and about 300% humidity for an hour and a half. The next morning I got lucky that an uber was traveling down I45 and gave me the 5 minute ride back.

But that should have been my sign… because the next day I pushed forward to San Antonio - and now I’m stuck because of the weather haha.

Why do people drive slow in the passing lane?
Because they want me to go to their houses and loudly give my full seminar about how to drive. Including my classic stand-up bit, “How to Tell if It’s Your Turn to Go at the Four-Way Stop.” (Rule #1: Are you stopped? If not, then it’s not your turn to go.)

They may also be practicing for the greater offense of going 80 when there is a temporary passing lane on the Super-2 and 50 when it’s back down to two lanes with no passing allowed for the next 10 miles, over and over again.

I sure you have seen times when the traffic is backed up behind someone towing a camper at 15 under the speed limit and everyone is afraid to pass. Then out of nowhere some lunatic comes blowing past everybody to get in front.

I'm that guy ... :yes::yesnod::yes::yesnod::yikes:

How does one sign up other drivers for that seminar? Almost every time I drive anywhere, I find drivers that should receive that teaching.

+1

Sadly I know a number who could/should take that class. I heard one person say they move to the right when there is traffic approaching, but can’t as there are people passing on the right. Facepalm.

Why is it that a tower or approach channel can be quiet for a while, and only when I need to collect the ATIS will it start getting busy?
