Urgent text from my wife a few minutes ago "Did you fly this morning?" which means only one thing - she just saw a news report of an airplane crash.

Yep - damn it .... http://denver.cbslocal.com/2014/10/27/plane-crashes-near-boulder-municipal-airport/

Looks like post crash fire destroyed the cabin? Pic looks like the firefighter is standing in/on the cabin area - unless I'm totally not getting what I'm looking at?

"Not clear if there are injuries"

I think a white sheet laid over the wreckage answers that.

:(

very odd placement of wing and tail in and among the fence corner posts ... almost like it fell flat and vertical into that position?

Agreed... Leading edges of both wings are crushed inward..... Straight in...

I can covertly answer a text while in a meeting, whereas she knows most of my calls go to voicemail.

Mooney.
Pilot died

:(

Edit: didnt mean to state the obvious. Just realized that info is also inthe last linked article

Very sad, right next to an open road. May he rest in peace.

And you received this notification why?;) Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Henning... Bill lives inside the "beltway"... They can't even call the Redskins. the Redskins anymore...:mad2::mad2:......;)

Ah, yep. The Washington football team is playing tonight. Technically, I live a mile outside the beltway, but close enough. Seems all the non-profit/organization pros know each other. I know a number of them, including top fols in a couple of aviation groups.

I was just funin with ya...;)

Hit the road propellor first. Did it flip inverted into the fence? There's not enough left of the fuselage to tell which way the wings & tail are oriented, and there a re some dark spots on top of one wing that could be a wheel. As well as a large hole in an elevator . . .

R.I.P. :-(

Would you answer a text like that with "Yes," and then she'll ask if you're alive?

Sure there is, you can see the orientation of the flaps on the wing.

Yeah, when a Navion based at CJR crashed into a BBQ joint down in NC I got half a dozen messages from people checking to see if that is me (I am based both at CJR and NC26 down in NC). I immediately called my mechanics having known what aircraft it was and to see if HE had been flying it.
