Superbowl 2013

Poor play choices when the 9'ers were 1st and goal. Hard to believe they didn't have at least one play called that would have allowed Coln to scamper with it.

The GoDaddy spots are creepin' me out...

I had to look away. It was disgusting. I won't host with them and have move two websites I support off of them just because of their stupid ads.

And I LIKE Danica Patrick. Just not anything she's done for them.

What murderer?

The NFL is about entertainment it's not a charity.

Beyonce didn't do the half time show for free either.

The murderer reference is about Ray Lewis, who, like anyone else with money, who finds himself in a compromising position, bought his way out of a murder charge. Somehow when rich athletes do what other rich people do, it's more difficult to forgive and even more impossible to forget.

Hard to do when defense only has to cover 15 yards.

Yes, it's entertainment. But too many young people look at the "entertainers" as hero's. People like Ray Lewis, who bought off a murder charge, and Vick who got off for basically nothing. The NFL and NBA are full of thugs. As far as I'm concerned, there is only one league without a ton of criminals, and that's the NHL.

Speaking of Ray Lewis, its been 2 hours, wonder how many people he has stabbed tonight?

They always come from behind.

In San Fran? Are you sure? ;)

Turn it on mid third quarter. If it's a good game, watch for a while. If not, turn it off and go back to whatever else.

I got home from flying, flipped it on, and play was suspended for the power outage. I kinda wish the 49ers would have won, since for the part of the game I did see the 49ers "won" 25-6.

At least they made it interesting.

The non stop BS starts at 1100 today. It's now worse than election coverage and that is saying something.

Not true in the least - If it were, we'd be starting the playoffs for the 2015 Super Bowl in 3 months. And even Election Day coverage starts well before 11 AM, at which point it is completely and utterly pointless.

You forgot NASCAR ;)

Good game, watched it with some friends. Did RC helicopter dogfights during halftime.

And the winner is . . .

And God made a Farmer (Ram ad)

Nice to know I don't need to buy a Dodge, since I'm not one of them. What a STUPID commercial, appeal to 5% of the population and alienate the other 95%.

So, someone should be banned from the NFL for being accused, but never convicted of a crime? Otherwise the NFL is condoning the activity?

By that logic the University of Pennsylvania should be closed entirely.

All catholic churches should be closed also, given their influence on children.

Let's not forget the Boy Scouts.

We could go on, but the stand you suggest isn't reasonable for any organization, not just the NFL.

Really, only 5 percent of Americans can associate with a rural lifestyle?
And the rest are offended? Crawl out from under the rock....

I feel like this does not need to be said, but if it helps you these guys do a lot of market research before plopping down 8,000,000 for a long superbowl ad.

Edit - I see that was a two minute ad, so $16,000,000

I feel like I am stating the obvious, but if it helps these guys do a lot of market research before plopping down 8,000,000 for a long superbowl ad.

Someone needs to tell Go Daddy that.

Nominate that post as the more ignorant stupid post of the year.

Today is a day of national mourning. Well, regional mourning anyway.

It's just a game though. I wanted to see the niner's pull it off, but at the end of the day, it in no way does it affect me win or lose. On with other things.

Agree on all of the above, including the NHL. It is unfathomable to me that anyone could cheer for Michael Vick. Seriously, Eagles fans?

My daughter in vet school just did a surgery on a dog who was a bait dog who ultimately made it to a shelter; someone cut off his teeth (i.e. only has a stub for a canine tooth, for example) so it wouldn't hurt the fighting dogs. Disgusting.

Go Blackhawks!

Go Blackhawks!

About the only thing I truly like about Chicago is the guy who sings the national anthem before the Blackhawks games. Absolutely fabulous talent, gives a powerful, emotional performance without "showboating" the way most performers do it these days. There is no better rendition done today, IMO.

How did it alienate the other 95%? I thought it was a wonderful recognition of what it takes to be a farmer. Did they say "And all those city dwellers are a bunch o' lazy sons o' ******* that God created so the farmer would have someone to feed?" No. I don't know how you could feel "alienated" by that ad.

To someone who is a city-dweller and has some sort of irrational dislike for farmers - Well, they're not exactly the target market for a full-size pickup either.

I thought that ad was the best one, followed by the Budweiser Clydesdale one. I must be a country bumpkin.

:yeahthat::yeahthat::yeahthat:

Jim Cornelison is awesome. I met him in the elevator at the United Center - he's a big guy!

He does a good rendition of "Oh Canada" too, at least to my American ears - I wonder what the Canadians here think about that. The Star Spangled Banner comes second in this video:

That Clydesdale commercial had no effect on this country boy.

I just accidentally got a little hot sauce in my eye right after it aired.

Those are the two that my daughter posted on facebook. She is studying to be a large animal vet, so both of them were perfect. She said she cried watching the Clydesdale commercial. :)

Just lump it in with his other clueless posts.

Compare it to the Ford commercial. Whatever your business, we make the best truck for it. i.e., whatever you do, our truck is for you. For Dodge, oh Farmers are so great, here's you truck. Screw the rest of you.

How the hell can paying tribute to a group of Americans say "screw the rest of you?"

Oh, and the last frame says "To the farmer in all of us."

And I thought you were only a bitter college professor in the Spin Zone. :dunno:

I'm bitter because I thought it was a truly awful commercial? Sorry, I thought the whole thing insipid, and patronizing to farmers as well. I can't imagine what they shelled out for two full minutes of Superbowl time, but I can think of loads of ways they could have spent it better.

No, you're bitter when you read into a commercial "screw the rest of you" when any thinking person would think that is the last thing that Ram wanted to do.

On the other hand, I do think that the Doritos commercial favored goats, and "screw the rest of you."

Patronizing to farmers? How many do you know? I grew up in the middle of the richest wheat growing land in the world and went to school with a bunch of those farmers. Those farmers are a hard working bunch and take more risks than any of us is trying to make a living, while feeding us. I loved that commercial.

I hate it when that happens. It happened in our house too. :dunno:

same here ... loved the Ram/Paul Harvey reading and the Clydes commercials ALWAYS get me ...

I didn't watch the superbowl.. But I just looked up these two commercials on you tube and I think they were both well done. I'm not a farmer and I've only raised one colt out of my mare but I know plenty of folks like that and really I think those commercials were right on with what they said.
To the farmer in all of us is a compliment

The NFL has just announced that if the SB is held in NOLA again it has to be played at the Motel 6..... because they'll leave the lights on for you.... :D
