Ariana Grande gets a tattoo that she thinks is the name of one of her songs, but turns out to spell "barbecue grill". People Magazine

No one will top the stupidity of Ocho Cinco. This brain dead professional athlete had his name LEGALLY changed to what he thought was his NFL jersey number.

Oops. 85 is actually ochenta y cinco.

Of course, he could have done it right, since we do use middle names in the US...

So this is an actual conversation that I had with my boss last night over how he talked his daughter out of getting a tattoo:

Dad: "Before you get that tattoo, I want you go look at all the Craigslist ads for escort request. What you will find, is that nearly ever ad specifically states, 'NO TATTOOS!'"

Daughter: "But I don't want to be an escort."

Dad: "Right, but, what does that tell you?"

Answer: Men do NOT want tattoos on their women.

I guess there are some exceptions. It's pretty much a deal killer for me. Okay it's not necessarily a deal killer but you're either going to give me a serious discount or cut me a whole hell of a lot of slack that you wouldn't otherwise.

Not quite. The only reason he legally changed his name is because the NFL fined him for putting Ochocinco on the back of his uniform. He also knew that it was 8 5 and not 85. The NFL had a hard-on for fining Chad Johnson for every little thing and it was just his way of giving a big middle finger back to them. He ended up changing his name back legally a couple years later

As a software developer, this always made me wonder. Computer systems are set up to only allow characters for names, not symbols. I can only imagine what I'd do if my boss came to me and said:

Boss: "You have to rewrite the system, and all integrations, to allow symbols for a person's name."
    Me: "I quit"

They do for me. Nothing positive, though. On women I find them to be a huge turn-off, and in most cases they make me question the judgment of the person wearing them.

I don't know. They've found tattoos on 5,000 year old mummies. I don't quite think this is just a fad.

There was a TV show once where one guy shows off his tat and says "It's Chinese. It means 'strength'"
An Asian man turns to him and says "Actually, it says when two men have sex, you play the part of the woman."

    Works both ways:

I've never seen a tattoo on a man that I thought was cool or looks neat, and I think tattoos on women detract from their appearance in every circumstance. But that's just me. Obviously, there are a lot of people who disagree with me considering how many have them.

    That too. Vaping especially.

:: shrug :: Just my opinion. Three of my sons have tats. Two Eagle Globe & Anchor tats, and one that in on the entire defensive line of my youngest son's college football team. Tattoos like that I can see; if I'd been a jarhead maybe I'd have one too. The vast majority of the "cool, decorative" tattoos I have seen are neither.

If ALL the 5,000 year old mummies had tattoos, you'd have a point.

When I was in my 20s, very few of people my age had a tattoo. Now you can't swing a dead cat around a group of 20 somethings and not hit someone with a tattoo.

Back when I hired people there would be a few applicants show up with their faces tattooed. I would show them the job description where it says no visible tattoos.

A girl I know, really attractive, showed up to work on day so proud of the green tattoo behind her ear....... which looks like she got hit by bird poo...

She's "large" in the Ariana realm. <- that was a joke

My favorite movie tat was the guy with "No Ragrets" on his chest. Jennifer Aniston's character says, "you sure about that?"

Unless it has a year + of thought behind it and was done by someone who made more than a few magizine covers, not a good idea. Basically if you want ink you should put more thought into it than the amount of thought you put into buying that car.

Millions of people have been getting tattoos since the beginning of time. It's not a fad, it's just that it's much less taboo than it used to be to have the tattoos visible, especially for females. I don't have any tattoos, but that's just because I've never been so passionate about anything that I wanted it stenciled on my body. My BIL (former Medivac EMT) has an EKG/ECG trace on his bicep with the words "I Fight What You Fear" surrounding it. Kind of a cool piece that represents something he takes pride in. I really don't think a tattoo makes anyone more/less attractive, but sometimes the placement or subject matter is tacky or superficial (tribal arm bands/tramp stamps) and that's what ruins it.

In MY opinion, I consider it a matter of taste rather than taboo. One can be proud of something but they aren't forced to place it on their body in hopes other people are just as proud - which is never the case. I don't feel the need to advertise anything on my body. I don't have bumper stickers on my vehicles either.

Advertising might be the only way I would ever consider a tattoo. I might get one if I was paid enough $$$ to wear their brand.

Of course its highly unlikely that anyone would pay my price so its a moot point. :D

    Oh boy!!

Another "100 hour wonder...." thread where we can look down our noses at others.

    To paraphrase @EdFred...

...I thought we expunged all the "sandy vaginas" a couple of years ago when @SixPapaCharlie determined that he couldn't fly GA to a Prince concert.

    Here gentlemen, flush it out!

Live, and let live. I don't like a whole lot of things that a whole lot of people do every day, but here's the best part: I don't care if they do or don't do things I don't like or not. (Think about it.)

I don't like excessive wind, rain, or ice storms. Nothing I can do about the weather. I can rant and rave about it, get my blood pressure elevated, become angry... why? For what? All I'm responsible for in this world is me, and the only person I have to make happy in life is me*. And you know what? You don't have to make me happy, either, so live on in whatever manner you choose.

*I'm happiest in life when those I love are content, well cared for, and happy. Happiness is a broad term. Use as directed.
