Greetings,

I’m headed to SNF for day 1. I’m about the be the new owner of a 2014 CTLSi and I wanted to get better plugged into the aviation community and perhaps meet other flight design owners and pilots. Any tips on what I should try to do while there like booths to go to and people to see and or other tips for a SNF first timer. please let me know, all ears here.

One day makes it kinda tough. I’d start by looking at the schedule and see if there’s any forums/events centered on ownership or Sport Pilot flying that piques your interest: https://dailyschedule.flysnf.org/dailyschedule-table/. My next recommendation would be to explore Paradise City where a number of LSA manufacturers setup shop. Finally roam through Hangars A-D and check out the venders.

You’re driving or flying as a passenger into the show, right?

My advice to first timers of any sort is that if you see something that interests you, check it out RIGHT THEN. Odds of coming back to it are nil.

Have fun!

I would treat the first visit to SnF (especially if it's just a day trip) as exploratory. Walk the grounds and the exhibit halls, watch the airshow, and take it all in. Then when you come back next year for a few days, you'll have at least somewhat of an idea of what to expect, where things are, and how long it takes to get from A to B.

Checking the program to see if there's anything of particular interest is a good idea, and if there's an exhibitor you are especially interested in, figure out ahead of time where they are. Beyond that: enjoy whatever you happen to see, and be ready to be overwhelmed and overloaded.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I decided to change plans and stay two days and will be there the 1st, and 2nd. Sounds quite overwhelming but in a positive way. Very exciting!

I’m going to stay two days now…thx for the recommendations, I’m driving in from TPA.

Excellent advice! I walked by Burt Rutan’s Boomerang at Oshkosh because I was on my way to meet someone figuring I could just come back and check it out a little closer but it was gone by the time I got back. :(

Do the hangers during the air show ,less crowded and you get to talk to the reps for the products. If you’re not into walking ,get a site map and learn the shuttle routes. Enjoy your time there.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but how difficult is it to leave after flying in before 4pm during the week?

Departing before 4 is almost certainly not going to happen. At least I wouldn’t plan on it.

The problem with being a newbie to SNF on a 1 day stay is you will want to stop and look at everything.

Hello all!! Thanks for your tips…Sun N Fun 2025 was one for the history books and I don’t think my hearing will ever be the same. lol! Ear plugs couldn’t really tame the Blue Angels. Okay now to two items. I’m about to be the new owner of a CTLSI in a matter of days and I’m still training. I’ve heard great things about the E-Prop both from the smart folks at Flight Design US at Sun N Fun and other owners…I definitely want to heed their recommendation but wanted to see if you all thought it would be okay to do the prop change before I finish training or wait and finish training on the slower (Neuform) prop. Ive read you can get a speed increase of 5-7 knots. Does that seem about right? Also I’ve heard folks saying they are getting an increase of 300 ft/min climb #s… does all that sound about right?? My CFI and others have advised me to wait and I’m sure thats the right thing to do and probably what I will do but I just wanted to see what some of the CT Flier opinion on the matter was for a pilot in training.

How much worse will a Neuform prop CTLSI handle than an upgraded one with an Eprop?

Also if anyone has any tips on who might have hangar space in the Atlanta area I would be very grateful. I’m on the waitlist at several area airports but will take it wherever I have to in the Atlanta vicinity to keep it hangared. KLZU is my top choice but as said ill go wherever.,

many thanks

Nelson
