I seem to go through dry spells of no flying for various reasons.

    The latest excuse.

I haven't flown for Six Months. The FBO I was renting from kind of went down hill.

    The other FBO Rude Owners.

The Flying Club I was planning on Joining is Now Full with Members.

Flying Season is now here in AZ and I have no place to rent from.

I could go to another airport 30 minutes away and rent there.

Love to own an airplane one day.

So do any of you go through no flying dry spells? Share your story.

yes....I haven't flown in 8 days and my excuse is work has been kicking my arse. so, I think I'll go fly in about an hour or so.

btw, 'a 30 minute drive' isn't really a good excuse.

I loved procrastinating with written tests. I should have been finished with my IR 6 months before I got it.

I haven't flown since Sunday. Was going to fly to the big airport today to catch my Commercial flight to San Francisco but forecast ice for Saturday means I'd not be able to get home.

Usually my dry spells are when I move. Moved to Oregon and took 14 months off due to 0 rentals and too many new house expenses. Then I bought a plane to solve the rental problem.

I've been on a dry spell lately. No reason to fly for work and I've been spending all of my time with harvest and building a hangar. Maybe Saturday.

Went from 8/3 to last week with not flying, due to all sorts of personal crap. Then flew once to get "current" and then flew the airplane to another airport for annual. LOL... and now... we wait.

Really, I've never been closer that 30 min for rentals, and now that I own, the hangar is also 30 min away.

I loathe it also, and yet... my instrument training was in the dead of winter, and it's sure looking like my CFII prep will be also. LOL... HATE IT... Hate pre-heating, hate freezing during pre-flight... HAAAAAATE. :)

Gee.... you should move somewhere cold and try flying at -4000 density altitude.....:lol:

In AK, we stopped operations at -35F, not because it might be tough on the pilots, but because the little things on the plane become brittle and break, like door hinges and interior plastic. I hated it when the bottle of water in my pocket would freeze while loading the plane....

Yeah, I've heard the AK stories... I'd "survive" it if I was doing stuff up there, I'm not a total wimp... and for work, just work and get 'er done...

But for "fun"... I'm not a fan of being cold. Unless I'm skiing. That's okay.

I'm a renter and sometimes for Months the airplanes are booked especially after the thunderstorms. Nothing like having your own plane but it's difficult to find hangar space around here.

I had a long dry spell not that long ago. First I needed a reasonably clear day to wash the airplane. Then I needed another to wax it. Then I needed another day to run an oil change. Since these days were each a week apart, I didn't fly during that time.

We have a small 10 member club based out of FFZ flying a 1972 PA28-235F - membership is full at the moment but there are always 1 or 2 openings a year

    $2000 buy-in - $48 an hour dry.

varsflyingclub.org ignore the Archer photo - we just traded up in May and working on a new website

i go too long between flights. i'm new enough that that makes me rusty. I need to make a point to get up this weekend for 5 laps around the pattern just to get used to wearing the plane again before i start IR in a few weeks

I’m in a 2 plane - 20 person club which is the same ratio and I seldom have weekends when I can’t fly due to the planes being booked.

I just moved to south OC from Corona this summer, so I gave up my spot in a sweet non-equity arrangement I had with an owner based at AJO. Now I'm starting to get settled into the new-to-me house, reassessing my discretionary budget, and hoping to find a similar arrangement at SNA. Any SNA based owners who wouldn't mind having a non-equity partner who has a track record of taking proper care of things they don't own to help keep the oil warm, send me a PM. I need to get back up in the air, and utilizing the rental line sucks.

Haven't flown since September 4th, last time before that was August 6th. I teach and coach football so I made the decision to put my PPL training on hold while I was working this many hours. Football season is done though so about to get back into the swing of things and finish these last few hours I've got left.

@eman1200 looking forward to finishing this cert and coming to some of the fly ins.

Here's hoping its just a matter of cleaning the plugs and timing the mags.
