Out with it. Who plays? Have a handicap? if not, what do you you usually shoot?
I play, I shoot in the 90s mostly, sometimes in the 80s. trying this year to break 80.

Out with it. Who plays?
Not in more than 20 years

Have a handicap?
only when I play golf and then it must be some sort of mental handicap for wanting to play such a dumb game ;)

the breeze

you a playa' ?

is the 1990's and 1980's? Are you traveling back in time?

I generally shoot high 70's and low 80's. Best round I've had on 18 is +2. Plus three on the front, -1 on the back. Still searching for my first eagle however. If I shoot above 80 I am generally not in a good mood when I leave the course.

Wow, that's great golf. My best is an 82.
I have two eagles one was a wedge from 100 yds, the other was a putt on a par 4 where I drove the green.
I pretty much suck tho'. Totally inconsistent. Either great, or crappy.

I hit a little white ball and chase it around for the hiking and swimming excersize. Izzat whatcha call golf?
Have a handicap?
My woods, irons and putter.

Actually, low 100's or on a good day upper 90's.

I'd jump for joy if I could hit 90!

I try to catch at least nine holes every so often. But, I'll never be that good. At least, not until I master that shot between the windmill blades.

Copy Frank Browne's post and you have me as well. Anyone up for meeting for a $500 round sometime?

im pretty good at Tiger Woods 2004 on gamecube...

Played a lot in college, haven't played much in 20 years, used to carry a 3 handicap. Probably couldn't break 100 now:(

I'm not sure what I do on a golf course can be considered "playing golf".

But I do believe that I'm in contention for the title of "worlds worst slice".

Have you ever played a lie from 2 fairways over? I have.:redface:

Of course that was when I was first learning to play. Not quite that bad now I'm happy to say.

I play 18 - 27 per week during the summer and I'm a 14 handicap.

I find it necessary to consume 1 can of swing lube every 3 - 5 holes or the round just won't be as relaxing. I'm also a big fan of Dominican wind detectors.

Yep, I play. It's almost a requirement in the car business.
And yes I have a handicap. Mostly it's from the tee box to about 100 yards short of the green
Prior to having both shoulders operated on 2x each and having my right elbow reconstructed (it's been a long 6 years) I would shoot in the upper 80's. So far I've played 3x this year and the best round was a 96.

Come on up to NC, I'll take you to Pinehurst and THEN take your money!
Cant be this weekend tho, the ladies are in town, tearing up pine needles.

Sorry Ed. Apparently the OP forgot to mention this was real golf, not mini-golf he was asking about ;)

To answer the questions. I play. Golf team in high school, grew up playing with a guy who qualified and played in the US Open a few weeks back (way to go Andy!!). Used to play 60-100 rounds per summer, but due to law school I've only been out a few times a year for the past 3 years. Looking forward to being done with the bar exam at the end of July so I can start golfing more (hopefully once a week or so). Boss isn't a golfer but he has already told me that he wants me to golf a lot as a means of entertaining customers and soliciting new business (gotta love that!)

Back in the day I was about a 6-8 handicap. Probably an 8 or so now. Usually shoot low- to mid-80s (despite only playing a couple of times a year). I've had a handful of eagles (mostly on par 5's - I can hit the ball a long way :)) But, just so everyone is jealous, the crown jewel eagle was a hole-in-one. I was 11 years old at the time (which explains why I was using a 5 iron on a 125 yard hole  )

Yes! I play.

However my Dad was Texas state champion in the 60's.

He and Ben Hogan were good friends. When my Dad was 62 years old he had a 1 handicap.

One time I was playing with him and on a par 5, 625 yards he hit a driver off the tee and a 3 wood and then one putted for an eagle.

I hit a driver and 2 - 3 woods and then 2 putted for a par. I was happy!:)

I quit playing golf so I could afford to fly.

I average 72 every time I hit the course....Everytime!

Some day, I'm gonna try something other than the Executive 9 Hole course...

I don't play golf, I play AT golf! I believe it was Mark Twain who stated "Golf ruins a good walk".

As I generally shoot around 120 I'd say I have a lot of handicaps!

To me being on a golf course is a good excuse to have two or three cigars and at least that number of beer.

However, I do have a hole in one and the trophy to prove it!

Have you ever hit a drive that traveled 200+ yards in the air and was headed generally back toward you when it hit the ground? I have

Not quite that severe. But I did have a pretty wicked slice. It would start out OK...straight and low. Then it seemed to rise and at about 150 yards out it was as if it hit a tree or something and shot 90 degrees off heading!

Most of my shots are somewhat better now though. My main problem is one of consistancy. Some days I can come out of the tee box like gangbusters but I end up 3 putting every hole. Then some other days I can't miss a put but I can't hit anything longer than a 7 iron. But dang it, it seems that everytime I play, I make one really great shot....and have to come back for more. Golf is insidious that way.

I can drive the ball well, hit good approach shots and putt well. I just can't seem to do all three in the same round very often.
I have troubles with sand shots. And I can't hit my stupid 5 iron for some reason.

I can't resist the opportunity to give a quick tip. I apologize if you have heard this before. For sand shots, go out and practice this:
-Ball in sand
-Line up at approximately a 45 degree angle to it
-Open up the clubface
-Draw a line in the sand approximately 1" behind the ball (obviously you can't do this "legally" on the course, but sure is fine on the practice area)
-Keep your head down
-Take a 3/4 to full swing
-Aim for and hit the line in the sand

My golf coach in high school taught me that method and it has worked great for me ever since (I just visualize the line in the sand when on the course). I get comments all the time on how consistently well I do out of the sand. I owe it all to "coach Hud."

My golf is 9 holes after work once in a while. Tough to get good doing it that way, but I find it enjoyable. I save Saturdays for the airport, Sunday for church.

I would be more than happy to do a flyin somewhere to mix flying with golf. Any organizers out ther?

I know the theory, I just can't seem to pull it off all that well.
Thanks

Nope! Hit a whiffle ball with Leslie's clubs a couple of times, but that's it.

After I get my ticket, I'd be interested in doing something like this!

On a ricochet off of trees, many times the ball has actually wound up behind me!

personally, I'm thinking about doing the tournament that Brook posted earlier here.
I can sink a 50 footer for 10 grand!
But if anyone is serious about a golf fly in, I'm game to try. I don't think too many of you guys are any where near me tho' (BOS).
How far would anyone be willing to travel for a round of golf?

I flew from KJWN to KTYS (about 140 nm) for a round a few months ago.

Try 2I3 sometime, par 3 nine hole course. Then go to the lodge for some pretty good food afterward. I'm up there pretty regularly.

Golf plays me... like a fish! It's a love/hate relationship I have with the game...

I have often referred to golf as playing Polo ... without a horse...! lol

I play some years, some years I don't, just depends on what other committments I have going on. When I'm playing, I'm about a 16 hdcp, but right now I wouldn't bet I could break 100!

Somebody once said that Golf is like a Love Affair... It's no fun unless you take it seriously, and if you do, it'll break your heart!

And even though it's not Friday ( joke day), I have to tell this one...

Whats the difference between a golfer and a rock climber?

A golfer goes- "whack"...."F#*^"!

A rock climber goes- "F#*^"... "whack"!

To call it "playing" would be a stretch.

I shoot high 90's when I do play, which is maybe twice a year. Used to be pretty good when I was a kid. Off the tee I can still hit it big, but I don't play enough to develop and keep "touch" for the short game. "Drive for show, putt for dough" as the saying goes.
Mostly, I enjoy the "social" aspects of the game. Especially in best ball tourneys. Golf is most fun when played as a team sport.

Topless beer girls help too, but that's a story best left for another time.

One of the nicest public courses in the country is almost across the street from Foxwoods hotel and casino. KGON is and KIJD are real close. Might be talked into that...
