Well... we want the site to appear on search engines if you google "aviation forum" or "100 hamburger" etc, but we don't want google to return my posts if the user googles N50909, as happens with my posts here.
I see your consternation about personal privacy. However, you may consider changing your handle instead of the medium. Choose privacy.
"Someone using their actual name can't be serious?!" Google smoore and the first hit is some 'net geek who likes video games and writes about them in wikipedia. Google Sean Moore and you'll find some info about a musician or two and some other random people. None of which are me. Yes, Sean Moore is my real name and smoore is my preferred username.
Thankfully something has changed since it's inception because Google used to hit the Sean Moore who was a gay british porn star.. right at the top! I took a lot of heat for that one. The best response I could come up with? "If only I had his abs!"
I'd rather be some game-geek or struggling musician, thanks.
Interestingly enough, my father found some homebuilt related forum post recently while searching around for something or other. Maybe he was making sure I wasn't flying to GB to film gay porn, I dunno. He probably searched for "Sean Moore HOT FUN".
I'm frankly surprised you people post your tail numbers at all. It's like me signing up as my car's license plate number and the state of CO having a database of public record giving anyone pertinent data related to that unique identifier. When you tie an internet handle to something as specific as an aircraft registration, of COURSE you're going to get hits on you and exactly YOU.
Having blabbered all that, I have no opinion on the worth of any of the red, blue or purple boards.
