I'd love to know how this played out. Can't upload the MP4 file here so I am linking it to Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4caw751x13dzxk7/Pilot class Bravo.MP4?dl=0 I get a feeling that if I tried to pull this off, I would never be allowed in the left seat again, but maybe I'm over-reacting.
Yeah no kidding! There will certainly be certificate action on that guy, but like you say, it seems too ludicrous to be legit.
Wowzers........ hope that was fake. If not fake, sounds like he had a chance to get out with only his tail between his legs, but no...
Interesting. I got this from a pilot friend who got it from a forum she frequents, did not occur to me that it might be fake. Hmm. Let me reach out and ask again.
Our mistrust is strong. I know people are this... dense? Unaware of their surroundings? I can see some newly minted pilot operating in a Bravo environment being confused but no way in hell is someone given a certificate without demonstrating proper respect for ATC. I understand that ATC is staffed by humans who sometimes get emotional, but both parties - controller and pilot - are generally aware that certification action awaits those who are unwise and generally that breeds a mutual respect. I heard none of that here.
Not sure it's fake. You can't make stuff like this up. Maybe he got overconfident after too many people complimented him on the accuracy of his instruments?
Also, the recording file has a date stamp of 6/20/20, but it may be wrong (since it was shared and reshared)
It has to be - now that we have a suspected flight as posted, someone smarter than me can dig that up
Holy crap. I was so eager to pretend that our ranks were untainted by the likes of this insanity. We gotta fly next to these dudes.
So we know it's in the 2100-2130Z segment, in one of the KLAS ones... how do I figure out which of the KLAS feeds I need to listen to?
https://www.liveatc.net/listen.php KLAS, App SE, 2100Z and go to 24 minutes or so into it. I think the controller was working combined freqs? couldn't hear aircraft replies
You found it?! well done. Loading it up. Thank you!! Well, ladies and gentlemen, I refer you back to my original post... Wow.
If you want to listen to the controller side on the LiveATC recording (as per Bob Noel, KLAS app SE 21Z), the debacle starts at around 31:00
Wow. He probably won't get any "cooperation points" for the potential coming certificate action. Not exactly good human interaction skills. Things deteriorated and escalated once the "attitude" card was played. The airspace surely can't be so busy these days that a clearance wasn't possible for the asking?
Honestly, that a-hole should lose his license for good. What’s scary is that probably won’t stop him from flying because clearly he doesn’t care about any rules, regulations, or safety of anyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
She gave him what, three or four chances to head out of the bravo? He deserves what he gets on this one.
This reminds me of the guy a few years ago who, on purpose, blundered into Oshkosh during the show without the notam and was oblivious. Even after atc told him to go somewhere and get the notam he continued on like he owned the place.
I FOUND IT!!! with the pilot's responses intact. KLAS, 21Z, clearance delivery, 40:03. (EDIT NOTE: I got this wrong when I posted this, it's actually departure 19/26)
He sure flys the heck out of the plane!!!. Lots of 700mile single legs. All VFR. Bummer, if he'd been IFR no Bravo clearance arguments.
Maybe if the FSDO isn't that busy his penance will start within the week. Otherwise he's probably got about a month before the call.
Wow....just.....wow. Pretty impressive how the controller keeps her composure and doesn't let the dummy fluster her at all.
Follow through from Henderson: http://archive-server.liveatc.net/khnd/KHND-Jun-20-2020-2130Z.mp3 He gets the number to call at around 7:30. Now I just wish I knew what happened next.
So it's in a LLC. How does the FSDO figure out who the actual pilot is for the action? Edit: just saw previous post. He did take the number
