Sex Sells.... Airplanes?

Guys (and gals)- check out these ads:

Question: Does that make any of you more likely to buy the plane?
Don't they have any high wing airplanes? :)

That was my take. Hey! Get OFF OF THE WING!

They need to stick something in there to hide the defects, dents, and scratches, you know.

:D

Gives a whole new meaning to the test flight

Wife: "Honey, why is there a receipt for a hotel room, room service, landing fees and 32 gallons of 100LL in your pants?"
Husband: "Well, you have to pay to fly the bird AND pay to refuel the bird when you are done"

Cheers,

Less likely, immediately suspicious

Agreed.

In my experience, the more distractions one puts out while trying to sell something, the more problems they're trying to hide behind the distractions.

If you're trying to sell me something, show it to me, tell me it's condition, answer my questions, tell the truth. Don't try to hide something that's wrong, don't try to distract me. And whatever you do, do not let me get even the slightest suspicion at all, even subliminally, that you might be trying to deceive me - If I do, light will still be bouncing off the space I was previously occupying because light itself hadn't realized I'm not there anymore and already in the next county headed for the horizon. BTDT more than once.

Guys....you really need to get out more...they are nice looking girls but c'mon...hardly super models.....and the photography.....jeez!

Len, I agree. I was embarrassed for the girls. Like watching someone signing in public that can't carry a tune.

There is no question that sex sells. There is a very good reason that super models make what they do. But they are used to grab your attention, to pull your eyes to an ad or tv screen when it could be looking elsewhere. That is not the case here. You have already chosen to look at their ad. If you are a serious buyer, you have some specific things you want to see in order to determine if you want to invest more time and maybe some money in investigating their offer.

My sense is that this use of hot female models (I am obviously using the term loosely) is going to backfire. It is like putting up a huge red flag. I would immediately start wondering what is wrong with the plane that they would use photos like that.

Now if they were putting a picture in Trade-a-plane or some other print magazine where there are pages and pages of planes, then it would make sense. It would make your ad stand out and grab attention.

Now that I've rambled on and tried to give a serious answer, it's time to get back to the Victory Secret catalogue.

Well, Neither of the three models would I want in my aircraft. Those heels exert about 4000 psi pressure and are more than what my wingwalk can take.

But remember, the Stock Initials for Southwest Airlines, another TexAs_ institution? Herb Kelleher's initial promotion was, HOTPANTS. The symbol today is still "LUV".

Sex sells anything. If it's done right. Thank you!

Is 100LL the new substitute for viagra? Guess you'd need some big pants, huh?

On the other topic, remember the schoolyard phrase, "Made ya look!"? That's what the T&A is for, to be sure you open all the photos. The more time you spend looking, the better chance what you're looking at will engrave itself on your brain pan. That's the theory, anyway.

wouldn't hoeish girls give non hoeish girls look more classy? :)

Those girls look hoeish. Giving us "non hoeish" girls a bad rep.

Yeah, I was thinking, "What if their fathers knew." Those girls don't look to be much older than teenage years...

Yeah Bill now a days they are called Prositots.

Think about it, a guy who is wanting to learn to fly, if they see those pictures they are going to want all of us girls to look like that. I guess they are going to be disappointed when they find out that most of the females in aviation are your "every day" girls, and that we dont wear high heals or really short skirts when we fly.

Right on, Bill... I was thinking the same thing. The biggest attitude changer for guys regarding young women is to have to raise one of your own. Changes your WHOLE perspective on young women.

Husband to wife: "You know, I could trade you in on 2 20 year olds."
Wife to husband: "You're not wired for 220, dear."

That was my reaction. What's point of dressing up the planes, so to speak, and then have pictures so bad you can't tell if the planes are in good shape. Or the girls.

I'm Julie, fly me! :D

No, I'm not really Julie, but I'm old enough to remember the old National Airlines ads. That was from the days when the big majority of airline ticket purchasers were men. It was also from the days when being a "stewardess" (as well as a pilot) was seen as a glamorous job.

Fast forward 30 years and I'm sitting in a CRJ in seat 1 facing the flight attendant "Justin" who is sitting in a seat strapped to the outside of the cockpit door. This is a full flight so as soon as we get up to cruise he goes about serving the whole airplane (he's the only FA). When that's over, he has to clean up, sort all the trash, wipe down everything, etc. My thought was, people want to do this job? Why?
