Sedona Airport Haters

Such a nice airport some people just don't want to share. Probably a new arrival to the area.

"Lets move into a house close to the airport because it is cheaper then try and close the airport with lies and rumors so our property value goes up."

We had the same nuts here in Taos. They were claiming that jets were routinely dumping jet fuel into the Rio Grande. However, the anti-airport people have been eclipsed by the chemtrail people who were all wearing gas masks, carrying signs, and protesting the other day.

If I lived in Sedona I would protest the rows and rows of T-shirt and tomahawk shops.

If they really were dumping jet fuel I'd get a raincoat and a bucket...

In Sedona all they would have to do is say the "vortex" made them build the airport. Locals would believe it and support the airport.

A fuel jettison system is required for transport category and general aviation aircraft if the maximum takeoff weight exceeds the maximum landing weight under FAA FAR part 25, section 1001. The maximum takeoff and landing weights are design specifications and may be found in the Aircraft Type Certificate data sheets.
Wrong about that. There are many examples of transport category aircraft with max takeoff weights greater than max landing weights which do not have a fuel jettison system.

Also, if aircraft were jettisoning fuel above Sedona she and everyone else would see it since puts out a big white trail.

"I counted 32 jets and 500 airplanes over my roof in one day from 8 am to 6 pm"
Wow, 500 airplanes in 10 hours. Close to one per minute. I wonder if he has a problem counting, that seems unlikely for Sedona even including overflying airliners.

"A fuel jettison system is required for transport category and general aviation aircraft if the maximum takeoff weight exceeds the maximum landing weight under FAA FAR part 25, section 1001."
I am just not seeing what he is quoting here, despite having read § 25.1001. Anyone?
And I have flown ga a/c in which the max t-o wt exceeds the max ldg wt; no fuel jettisoning on board.

What about the tons of exhaust fumes from cars pumping into the beautiful "clean" Sedona air, they will be trying to ban those next.

Plonkers

I just signed his petition because it allowed comments.

Here is my comment:

Your 'research' is full of shyte. Ex: 500 aircraft + 2 jets in 10 hour period (0800-1800) suggests 532 aircraft flown over your home on approach to KSEZ. That is 53 operations per hour. Really? That averages to nearly one landing per minute for ten hours. And, since your subject is 'fuel dumping', the majority must be so engaged. You're full of shyte. The numbers from your own mouth do not add up.
But let us look at this from an objective view: ask yourself, how many arrivals or departures from SEZ are there from any given 24 hr period? How many of those operations are engaged in the supposed airborne fuel dumping? Admittedly, as a pilot I may find it necessary to defuel but that is a ground operation. As pilot in command (final authority to the safety of flight) I would certainly not engage in dumping of fuel either on arrival or departure. If the occasion did arise (I am not saying it would) I would not engage such activity at low altitude as you suggest. My strict opinion would be that that would constitute jeopardizing flight safety or at least very bad planning on my part.
Again, you're full of shyte. If you don't like the airport WHICH YOU MOVED TO, then move or just shut your pie hole.
There is much more I could say but I figured that was enough for the time being.

I left my e-mail addy to see if he/she/it responds. This could prove interesting.

Undoubtedly he is one to complain of oxydane and because of it's toxicity it must be prohibited. Think of your property values the children.

And there are a billion of people who'll sign that petition.

why do all the really nice places get overrun with kooks?!

A: The vortex, natural mineral crystals, the coming of the comet, drum circles, to sing Kum bay yah, the rebirth of Jerry, getting the band back together, etc.... You don't have to choose just one nor is the list inclusive of all.

It seems one of the main complaints is the tourist choppers. Do they not understand that if the airport closed then the chopper operation would likely build a private pad and keep on trucking? They don't need a big airport.

And Red Rock Biplanes. And the Pink Jeep tour. You've seen one Cathedral rock, you've seen them all. :goofy:

And all those Rock Star celebs arriving with their entourage. Don't forget them.

I have never been to Sedona. I hear it's a beautiful place, but I've also heard that it's chock full of hippie types. Therefore, I'm not terribly surprised by this.

Sedona is a pretty cool place. The airport is above the town and the road up there gives you some really nice views. There are a lot of crystal and new age places - I don't know how many are "legitimate" wackos and how many are there to capitalize on the local reputation for tourist dollars.

Drive the back road to/from Flagstaff if you really want some scenery.

And the Pink Jeep tours might be cliche but it's a fun ride on the back trails.

Like a hobo on a free sandwich are there hippies in Sedona. They remind me of that scene in the movie Independence Day where all the new agey types gather on the roof of the building. They hope for a better tomorrow all the while doing nothing about it. Or if they do do something, it is like the web page which is the subject of this thread. 'It's fact because I FEEL it is.'

Yes, do not be surprised. But also do not let it keep you away. They wash because they must, for the retail mind you.

In the county where I lived for over 30 yrs there was always the letidor, you know, the letter to the editor of the local newspaper. Mary Jean, by her own admission, was in her 80s. Her letters which were regularly printed in the local fishwrap were always of one subject.

Mary Jean strenuously bjected to the wood smoke of wood burning stoves or even BBQ grills. When it was finally brought to her attention that due to the prevailing winds her residence was far upwind of any of the aforementioned, her reply was she just didn't like the thought of poor helpless trees cut down to make firewood. Oh my!

She actually suggested a meet up so we could all hold hands in the forest to ask the trees for forgiveness. Now I like the glad tidings of nature and all but that is going a bit too far for it is 'do as I say'. And even the trees don't like being told what to do by a self proclaimed zealot acting in 'their behalf'.

You can't just keep flying willy nilly through The Vortex, what's wrong with you, it screws up everyone's shakras.

I'd suggest that the friends on oxygen or with retina detachments are due to their previous drug use and not taking care of their health when they were younger. After all, it is the Sedona Vortex. Any bets those with eye problems are diabetic? Or it's a genetic ailment?

I love the airport and the "city" tourist areas and I've done the Pink Jeep ride. Nice flight in and out, or driving Oak Creek Canyon up to Flagstaff. Best place to stay is the hotel on the airport plateau, that's where everyone goes for sunset. You are already there.

Well, that wrecks my theory. After reading that litany of strange medical symptoms, I thought the author had to be the POA member that routinely posts such things in this forum.

I'll give 'em two wingtip vortexes..:yesnod:

Sedona's weird.

A lot of nice Art galleries though with some impressive work. Just leave your iPod playing music and just look around Sedona and it's a pretty cool spot. Just don't talk to anyone, completely ruins it.

I work for a ground crew in Phoenix and we just put a full load of dihydrogen monoxide on a MD-80 in preparation for a combination chemtrail and fuel dump over Sedona. I just took this picture from the ramp:

Ummm...you're targeting God?

That's a church...an ugly-assed church, granted, and one that really screws up the natural beauty of the surroundings, but a church nonetheless.

That huge cross didn't give it away?

HE.HAS.YOU.FOOLED! Listen, I'm letting you in on a secret. KSEZ has been designated an intergalactic spaceport by the Rockefeller-Illuminati World Order Association where we will be receiving a visit in approximately 4 years by an ambassador from a planet hidden in the shadow of Andromeda. Some of their dignitaries are already here dressed in the skin of humans and living among us, but they actually have a reptilian form. Obama will be meeting with Putin during his (Obama's) 3rd term to make the announcement.

We have been driving global warming and climate modification via chemtrails to make our atmosphere more hospitable for the ambassador, who eats pure gluten and is highly allergic to cats. It took us 4 years, but we finally rid Sedona of all its cats via constant fuel-dumping. Sadly, Amanda was collateral damage. But thanks to the gluten-free health craze, we have managed to extract and stockpile enough gluten to feed the Andromedans for several decades.

Also, the original site for the spaceport was NYC which is why the government cleared the WTC but the new President decided to move it to Sedona because the climate there is more like that of his hometown.

FYI -

March 21 & 22 the Sedona Airport has a B-25 and other old war birds flying in.

It is a she, and her name can be found by clicking the "Sign The Petition" link.

Her Facebook says she's an "Actor/Director." Should say "bat****."

I didnt read all the pages but what i did read was actually comical!

"Dumping jet fuel 100s of feet above our neiborhoods"
(they must not realize what it cost)

"Our blood is full of jet fuel"
(really?)

Herein lies the problem:
"I am home all day long and much closer to the bottom of the jets as they fly over my roof"

Does Sedona get that much Jet traffic now? Used to be mostly recip and a couple of TPs with the occasional jet.

This is VERY interesting! I'm going to track all the jets landing at Sedona and contact their registered owners and make them an offer: My offer will be that I can save them thousands of dollars flying into Sedona and I will do it only for a cut of their savings. Once I get agreement from them, I will help them plan how to fly in and out of that airport without needing to dump all that jet fuel. Everyone will be happy. The operators of those jets will be saving money by not dumping fuel and the locals who are breathing all that in will be happy too.
