Sedona Airport Haters

It is easy to laugh at these groups because of their "beliefs", but dealing with them can be surprisingly daunting. I have talked with them, tried to explain why none of this would happen, gathered a group of pilots to discuss, etc. They were unmoved, period. In our example they protested, handed out similar fliers, attended every public meeting demanding action, even filed law suits. No amount of logic, reason, or education would sway them. If they target your airport I would take it seriously.

Ok, so Sedona hasn't grown into a major place since I've been there. She's a kook, even in a community of kooks she's seen as a kook. Let her rant.

And if it does grow... Just wait until they install a new cell tower. Fuel dumps and microwaves!

Regardless how serious you take it, there's nothing you can do to stop the process besides hiring a hit man, or having them committed. Explaining, cajoling, nothing else will work as you note, so you just take it as it hits and deal with it.

Problem with Sedona is the people moving in there and despoiling the scenery with their housing tracts and amenities; not the airport.

And, the trouble makers / new owners are the typical artsy-fartsy types that proclaim they have theirs, let everyone else lemming off a cliff someplace

Ehhh, bummer, the place used to have more of a hippie vibe.:(

Does Sedona get that much Jet traffic now? Used to be mostly recip and a couple of TPs with the occasional jet.
I don't think that much, but I've been there within the past six months. Unfortunately this airplane can't jettison fuel (even though it has a max takeoff weight greater than max landing weight) so I couldn't target her house. :D

I'm thinking her house should be GPS tagged so anyone with a relief tube can find it. "That's not jet fuel!"

It is a she, and her name can be found by clicking the "Sign The Petition" link.

Her Facebook says she's an "Actor/Director." Should say "bat****."

A wannabe tree hugger !!

There is a link to ask her questions... so I did ... asked her for proof of all her claims, particularly photos of aircraft "dumping" fuel and what her medical background is..... not holding my breathe on that one.

IMDB has a basic entry for her http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6868065/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1 but he looks more like a wannabe model for her friends

FU SEDONA!!!!! (Pic from one of our scheduled minutely dump runs)

When I looked at that picture, one of the more gaping holes in her arguments leapt out at me: the cost of fuel! :hairraise:

These are the same people that think nothing of carving roads all over scenic mountain ridges to facilitate the installation of 30 meter tall wind turbines.

The resulting erosion causes irreversible damage and the turbines kill birds while despoiling the view for generations to come.

The big slow turbines aren't so bad on birds. They need to do a better job about the construction restoration though.

Well, that wrecks my theory. After reading that litany of strange medical symptoms, I thought the author had to be the POA member that routinely posts such things in this forum.

AP lives in Sedona???:dunno::dunno:.......:rolleyes:........:D

Just remember - the tips of those "slow" blades are moving fast. They're huge and moving faster than a small plane.

They are visible and predictable. Remember, these birds hunt moving targets, even in ones in flight. The new ones have much better results. The ecological damage pales in the shadow of the oil industry, so while not perfect, the net overall outcome come is a significant improvement. The Exxon Valdez spill alone probably still holds a higher count than all the modern windmills.

Really? I think they're more likely to believe that wind turbines are a secret plot to alter the weather or that they're really disguised microwave towers put there to give everyone headaches and make them more docile for government control.

These are nutters, not tree huggers.

+ 1 for Sedona hater.

It's really not that special....plus it's filled with kooks.

Cool to visit once....

There are sooooo many more places I would love to visit multiple times in the US. I can think of at least 4 in AZ and Sedona isnt on the list.

IMHO.

If I lived in Sedona I would protest the rows and rows of T-shirt and tomahawk shops.

:yeahthat: been there a few times over the years and was even able to fly in and out of the airport. The place got tackier each time i went and views got uglier with each new hotel and subdivision. Can stop "progress".

I'm a life long Floridian and have had to deal with my favorite places going to **** for some time now.
