Does anyone have any experience how the factory built RV12's are holding up in a flight school environment?

One of the flight schools I’m associated with used to have 2, but we are down to one because they were under-utilized. A few have chosen them for private or commercial training (I’m not sure about instrument) but unlike the more traditional Cessnas and Cherokees, their schedule doesn’t get filled up daily.

I'm based out of Twin Oaks Airpark in Hillsboro, OR, and they've got two RV-12s in the Flight School fleet. I see them flying all the time, so they're obviously not hangar queens.

I can't speak to the iS specifically, but there are a couple of regular RV12s locally. One's at a school, one's a club plane.

I would never purchase an SLSA for a flight school. Durability is the reason.

Sling Academy in Torrance has been using them for years. They have 49 Sling NGTs in their fleet. They aren’t the most robust airplanes around but they seem to work for them.

Think people don’t want to buy an airplane that has seen flight school use? SLSAs will be sitting a very long time to find that fool.

The school near me has been flying a few RV12s for a number of years and has only had good things to say about them in the few conversations I've had.
