Bro do you even lift
just getting the dates ironed out. 4/24 - 4/26 sound good to everyone? will @Bill make his long awaited return? did we scare off the indians? tune in next week...same bat time...same bat channel!

I understood we weren't allowed to discuss RR dates until after Gastons. I'll talk to you when you arrive at 3M0.

Well y’all not talk about dates. I can’t make the Gaston’s event. Either way,I have a conflict with the date that I will reschedule once plans firm up.

I'll be in the field.

Anytime after 15 April when Steamboat Ski Area closes.

Ok for me and Sue

Just responding to keep this on my mind. I don't work that weekend, so it's definitely a possibility

meh, I don't see any shenanigans......no fireworks-hating dogs....nobody slipping on a hill and falling on their arse......no one cooking burgers outside while it's pouring out....no drunken wives.....

So, has Brian said whether he is flying in to RR 2026 in the E175 or Comanche?

I've somehow managed to never make this fly-in, and if it's that weekend I will definitely not make it again - That is the one weekend each year where I play in a concert to benefit ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) research.

Earliest I can head there is noon on Saturday (so 2pm arrival). Other weekends align better.

that post didn't age well.

Will email the park to see if they’re letting us come back.
I’ve been given to understand that they have arranged to have ICE Agents lurking in the trees around the Cabins.

Ok booking is now open for the group discounted rate.

DISCOUNTED RATE ENDS MARCH 19th

Group code is 3417 or just ‘pirates of murica’.

We should actually say that…..”no I think you misunderstood us, we’re Pirates of America”. Argh.

Kind of rolls off the tongue. Eman - you should whip up a "Pirates of Murica" logo.....

Looks like they did the background check on POA fairly quickly?

I think you have to call up

270-257-2311 Option # 1
Spot on - yes, the nice lady at reservations said they don't do group codes on line, you have to call. And nice discount!

All booked. Thanks EMan!

Anyone want to catch an old man up? What is Rough River, and what airport is the fly in at?

Anyone want to catch an old man up? What is Rough River, and what airport is the fly in at?
Airport: 2I3
City: Falls of Rough, KY
Description: It's a state park with an airstrip that has lodging and a restaurant on the premises. The airfield is halfway between the cabins and the lodge. Entirely walkable.
Lodging: There's a lodge with basic hotel rooms and there are cabins. We usually designate "a party cabin" where the people graciously host the rowdy bunch of aviators during our gatherings.
Unofficial description: We pretty much fill up the ramp (or close to it) every year with PoA'ers who fly in (or drive). Friday through Sunday. People bring food to cook, beer/sodas to drink, snacks to share, chairs to sit around the campfire in. Attendee size, I'd guess between 20-40 people? Though EMan probably has a better guess. We have people come in from all over. It's a good time for grilling, sitting back, talking airplanes, drinking a beer (or a soda). Some people take their planes out on Saturday for an adventure. There's no strict schedule or anything, very laid back.

It's a good time and you should go :)

I agree with everything above. You should definitely come out this year nothing illegal happens nobody gets hurt, nothing ever catches on fire and the proof of that is that people keep coming back. Nobody has ever tripped and fallen into a fire pit, nobody has run from imaginary cops screaming into the woods smacking into the tree and getting covered in mud. Multiple people have not stood out in the rain and slipped and absolutely busted their ass and become completely covered in mud and tried to play it off like nothing happened.

It's just a lot of sitting around and reading scripture.

Nobody has ever had the bright idea to grill the food inside the cabin because we are pilots and we know where carbon monoxide comes from nobody would ever do that it would be dumb regardless of how much it's raining.

And as God is my witness if ever there were two people having a Roman candle duel in the middle of the night on a runway in a state park I'd sure pretend I didn't see it.

We're pilots, we're professionals, we get together and talk flying and have good food that's the end of it.

Although it's very safe, tame, and calm we do allow a tiny bit of alcohol but we keep it pretty regulated.

We wouldn't want things to get out of hand

It would be great to have the guy (since "ejection handle pulled") that talked about his time at the Burning Man orgy tent. I suggested RR was right up his alley.

I will try to be there this year, but no orgy tent. :)

Here's the one I was thinking of
I used to be a regular attendee. I went primarily to be free spirited and express myself in ways I cannot outside of it. Being able to be naked with a lot of attractive women and even be sexual is an amazing experience and feeling. I’ve had many good experiences in the orgy dome with my girlfriend. If you enjoy art, sex and feeling liberated you’d love it.
You'll love Rough River.
