Let me add my 2c:
I went to Little Rock Central High. At all times the school had to be 50% Black 50% other. For me to go to Central, since I live in the county, one black kid had to come to the county. This is what we call a Majority to Minority Transfer. Now this is not some local school rules this is FEDERAL LAW. At all times the Little Rock School District has to stay desegregated. Since Pulaski County is a white majority, I was doomed to go to school in the county unless the above happend.
Now at school everyone segregated themselves like NORMAL high school students. However in a national HBO documentary they label this as the students being racist. Yes, we had gang fights, the occasional shooting, and drugs galore. So we are not a perfect sample of humanity.
However the racism was brought in by rival schools. During football games with small towns we would find nooses and KKK signs around our stadium. These schools would require a full police escort in and out of our school neighborhood.
Most of the racism I have seen comes from the small towns around AR. Now even some of my family members are racist. One of them grew up with black maids but she sees them as normal human beings now days. However if a Hispanic does work around her house she will feed them via the back porch and they are not allowed inside.
Is it right? No Can I do anything about it? Nope.
