Pilots gonna swap planes in mid air: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/plane-swap-hulu-live-special-1235111232/ Stand by to move this thread to Aviation Mishaps.
"Hold my (entire case) of beer." I wonder if the FAA is giving a waiver for this, or if a 91.13 is already written up.
Well, this is stupid-cool! Can't imagine how they are going to simultaneously and precisely control two aircraft in a straight vertical dive, as shown in the promo. Even with some mods to an autopilot, it just seems there would be too many variables. Now, if it's just a very steep descent then that seems more probable. In any case it will be fun to watch.
Well, somebody made it up. I guess there has to be a first time for everything, but I’m really struggling to see what the point is in this.
Are they jumping with or without fire extinguishers strapped to their ankles and selfie sticks in hand?
I think it would be much cooler to do something with 3 pilot / divers and have all 3 fly both planes in one flight (and have someone at the controls of both planes at all times). But I guess that's too boring.
"The duo will cut the engines, and a custom-made airbrake will hold the planes in a controlled-descent speed of 140 mph." Wait so we can turn certificated aircraft into experimentals now?
When was it not possible? People do it all the time for r&d. I’m guessing this will be experimental exhibition… just a guess.
Parachutes. Pfft. What a couple a weenies. Did the flying wallandas have a net? Did that dude who tight roped between the twin towers have a net, or a chute? EDIT: Disregard. Read it again. Didn't say nothing about parachutes. Betcha they're gonna have them tho.
That April date got me wondering, too. Bet they move the 'event' up to the first of the month. Has to be the plan.
IDK, it just seems silly to me. Nothing better to do than come up with some crazy stunt. Human nature I guess. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/plane-swap-hulu-live-special-1235111232/
Your title is better, but... https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/cant-make-this-up.137211/#post-3229535
oops, I see someone beat me to it... https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/cant-make-this-up.137211/
Too easy. Parachute A should be in Plane B and vis versa. Pilots leave their planes track over to the other plane grab their chute and then return to their original plane.
I'll predict that one of these winners will smash his head into one of the planes trying to catch it, knocking himself out long enough for both he and the aircraft to not survive the fall.
I’m putting this here instead of “mishaps” in the hope it becomes a stunt and not… the other thing. https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/16/spor...ving-luke-andy-aikins-spt-intl-cmd/index.html
Thread #3 on this one https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/stunt-pilots-to-trade-planes-in-midair.137215/
