I have a Cessna 414 with Garmin 430 and 530 WAAS, older installation. I’d only flown in clouds for a short time after a total repaint. I finally had a couple trips in actual IFR, less than a minute after entering clouds, I get a lot of static on both radios. It seemed like a stuck mic on frequency at first. I was on the way to the avionics shop to have a G600 Txi installed, they suggested it was a static wick issue. I had all the static wicks checked, all had good grounds. Next step was to remove and clean the static wicks and ensure they actually have good contact and ground straps were good.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I’ve never had this particular issue before.
Thanks

Precipitation Static. Are your static wicks in good shape?

Your 'lectrons are getting wet.

Static wicks won't do you any good if you don't have good bonding between the stabilizer and the rest of the aircraft.
One common bad habit of paint shops is to paint bonding strap attachment points and not clean them properly before reinstalling them.

Moisture in wiring, especially if the insulation is old and breaking down, can cause static.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
As mentioned above sounds like the aircraft electrical bonding system may have altered during the repaint. Find a shop that has experience and equipment for checking the electrical bonding system.
