Per @WDD's suggestion here, I'm gauging interest in whether people want to hear what I have to say about avionics in a format other than random posts on everyone's threads telling them how to spend their money. I have the luxury of unfettered access to one plane with a G3X Touch panel and another with a G500 TXi panel, and my own pet peeves about what each of them does better than the other.

I'm not a YouTuber but I could probably put together a video, or do a live presentation with a slide deck including pictures of what I'm talking about. How many of you would pay the full admission price of $0 (additional discounts available for POA supporters) to see this?

If your interest depends on material, what specifics do you want to hear about? Some ideas:

* How did I design the G3X Touch panel?
* What changes would I make to the layout if I were starting over?
* Do I wish I had paid someone to build a wiring harness instead of rolling my own?
* What different lengths of wire did I use?
* How did flying with the G3X Touch for a year inform the design of the G500 TXi panel?
* What did I still get wrong despite that experience?
* What is it like to perform a typical cross-country flight, including comparisons from flying basically the same trip in both planes?
* Consult @midlifeflyer for a few avionics scenarios that his students struggle with so you can watch me struggle with them in multiple different ways.

I'd be "in" for either a video or a live presentation from Ari.
Cool,
Wayne

Sure, mostly to “meet” another POAer, but also to keep learning. Like a virtual fly-in.

Will the presentation cover tips on how to rob a Garmin dealer and steal a G500 TXi and coerce an A&P at gunpoint to install said glass panel for free? Thanks!
I'm ethically prohibited from giving tips of that sort. I'll ask my mafia connections if they would like to co-present, though.

Update: Just got off the phone with the mafia connections. They're sending someone over to discuss it with me. Does anyone know what 'cement shoes' are?

I would definitely watch. A cross country flight comparison with approaches and perhaps an enroute amendment sounds like a great scenario. Without going overboard, a "gotcha" from each system would be a plus.

Probably better than pro-seal shoes, tbh.

Yes, please.

Additional thoughts:
- what tools were indispensable?
- what materials did you require that didn't come from garmin?
- are garmin's instructions clear enough to figure it out, or do you need a mentor?
- how is garmin's experimental tech support?
-Should I buy from the cheapest vendor, or look for sometime who will provide help
- what classes/ resources did you find helpful?

Stylish and durable.

Probably last you the rest of your life.

Additional Additional thoughts...

What are the basis on how components "talk" to each other?
What is Garmin and others using now and in foreseeable future?
How does the GTN "speak" with a G5, or a GI275, or a transponder? GFC 500 AP?
Is the G3X "old tech", or is it just "simple" / CAN BUS?
What combinations should be avoided?
What are good choices for future upgrades / connectivity / scalability?
