Ugly :-(. RIP.
Do you mean the livery or the circumstances? With a dirt road visible so near the crash site, I have lots of questions. Thought it may have been a flip in desert terrain after emergency landing. Some form of spin/stall seems more likely now.

That was a hard hit, I doubt it was an engine out landing gone bad.

Went over to their forums to find out they don't allow discussing crashes (or that's how it seemed to me). I guess they don't want that kind of publicity.

DR doesn't allow any speculation on his site, factual reports and FAA/NTSB releases only.

I don't know what to make of the recent flight data in FlightAware, but last Thursday there was this flight that appears to involve some pretty aggressive maneuvering only 1000-2000' AGL.

She appears to have been participating in an annual formation flying clinic. I bet that ADSB track was related:

The gear being ripped of makes me think forced landing. That said, I agree that there seems to be excess energy involved my assumed situation does not account for.

For formation flights, do some turn off transponders?

Maybe, but there's also no ADSB out required in that airspace.
