This could be a mega thread but I'll just start with my question and offer up my experience in Chicago.

Question: I have to drop off Pax so that they can catch flights out of ATL. Do I go FTY? DPK? or ATL itself? (assume single pilot fast aeroplane) Is ATL manageable in a littleish aeroplane?

Thoughts??

In Chicago area I'd do this into MDW but not into ORD single pilot. Ground ctl is intense and I think my brain may just explode if I went in single pilot.

Know the arrivals, keep your speed up and ATL is fine. Call Signature in advance.

are you the foo who has to make arrangements for your passengers for when you drop them off?

basically yes. i mean, some how i was also talked into arranging rental cars at 2 locations... c'est la vie la vie

I'm about to call them now. I try to call in advance every time ever since SDF wanted something like $700 to hang out overnight.

I dropped my wife off at ATL when we were vacationing in SC and she had a international flight. It's been about 15 years, but IIRC, it costs something close to $100 for landing, ramp, handling and security fees. Totally worth it since she had a large bag and I didn't want her catching a ride from PDK to Marta and then making the trek to ATL.

I don't think I would try that at ORD though.

How little-ish?

PDK is easier than you think and I'm willing to bet less fees than Signature at ATL.
All true, but I think the passenger is getting on a commercial flight at ATL. Depending on time of day, that might be an hour+ away.

then again, trying to catch a flight using piston prop to get to the city is already a low % play vs driving/MARTA to the airport.
I like MARTA, I used it extensively as a broke college student during my time in ATL.

PC12. The other pilot hates PDK - says "it's a *insert expletive*"

$248 at ATL, $100 at FTY

Right now boss leaning towards FTY as the time savings seems minimal vs the risk getting EDCT'd or TMU'd into ATL.

ATL in a PC-12 is no problem. They will keep you on the north runway. Signature will give your pax a ride to the terminal. PDK gets a bad rap, but I’ve been flying out of there for 25 years without an issue. FTY is also a good option, but they are pretty busy right now because the long runway at PDK is closed.

I’ve flown GA into pretty much every class b airport on the east coast. Keep you speed up and don’t sound like an amateur on the radio and you’ll be fine. Another option which probably won’t work for you since you’ll be tied to your pax’s airline schedule, is to go during non peak hours.

FTY (did my PPL checkride there) is definitely the shortest drive (distance wise). But just like Chicago, you're never sure how long a drive is going to take.
