What else can I say, Patriots, greatest of all time. Brady, greatest of all time. Belichick, greatest of all time. Robert Kraft, greatest of all time. Haters gonna hate, but you can't deny, Patriots are great.

Being a Patriot fan must be a lot like being a Cirrus owner :D

Remarkable comeback. It made for an exciting game for sure.

If the Falcons hadn't gone into coast mode in the second half, Brady never had a shot. It was very much a game where the Falcons "lost" more than the Patriots "won". Got to give it to Brady and company for taking advantage though.

I had no dog in this hunt. I watched about 2 or 3 minutes of the first half, then left. I came back about 3 minutes into the third quarter, and glad I kept watching.

Before the game I was hoping Atlanta would win, then after the half and watching the Atlanta people celebrating their apparent easy victory , I started hoping the Patriots would at least make it a close game. It was the only pro game I watched all season, and it was definitely the game not to miss.

This.

Dear Atlanta,
Getting to within field goal range late in the 4th quarter for a potential 3 point dagger is not the same as actually kicking that field goal. 1st&10 on the NE 22 and then you get pushed back 23 yards? Really? I guess you're joining the San Diego Chargers' campaign to shorten the games down to 55 minutes but bear in mind that losing late in the 4th quarter hasn't really been working out well for them either.

Well the Atlanta Head Coach was an Assistant under Pete Carroll in Seattle another team who choked away a SB victory...3 runs after the Julio Jones catch at the NE 22 and you force the Patriots to burn their timeouts, if you kick the FG the games is almost out of reach.

Patriots and their fans have inflated egos.

Perhaps but they sure back it up. I'm a Packer fan so I really didn't care who won, but what a comeback. And not just Brady. Look at the protection his line gave him in the 2nd half. Give any pro QB time, especially one of Brady's caliper, and they will kill you. Falcons blew it. 25 point lead deep into the 3rd quarter. 25 points!

The name of the greatest coach of all time is on the trophy. It will not be renamed.

Yup, couldn't agree more. But, Belichick is up there also. Different eras, different game today.

Yea. Instant replay rugged the game up forever. Refs are more like mediators than refs.

By every quantifiable measure Lombardi beats Belichick. In ten seasons as a head coach Lombardi won five championships, Belichick won five in 22 seasons. Lombardi never had a losing season, Belichick has five. Lombardi's regular season record is .738, Belichick's is .673. Lombardi's playoff record is .900, Belichick's is .722.

Lol, no. Had the Patriots managed a 25 point lead, they would not have lost this game like Atlanta did. Atlanta shot their wad in the first half. The Patriots play for 60 minutes... or more if they need to, they have done this all season. Brady has done this type of comeback many times in his great career and he, plus his team mates did it again last night. They took it from Atlanta and to say Atlanta "coasted", well, I just shake my head. GO PATS.

Different game back then, no cap, no free agency, different rules. To deny Belichick's greatness is well, whatever.

Lol, you're out of your mind. ANY team that is up 28-3 in mid-3rd quarter and loses the game, did something wrong that they weren't doing in the first 2.5 quarters of the game. Giving up 30 yards when you're deep into field goal range was just poor play by the Falcons. They kick that field goal, it's game over, even for Brady. The Falcons defense spent most of the second half looking like a prevent, instead of attacking. Their offense went to more of a spread than the rushing attack they started the game with, and the Patriots defense shut it down. I'm not taking anything away from the Patriots, but the Falcons lost it for themselves. I don't have a dog in the fight, because I don't really care much about NFL football, but you can't give up 25 points in 1.5 quarters.

Yup, different back then. Belichick is a great coach, but he's not the greatest of all time.

Patriots aren't my team...but damn people are always so butt hurt about Brady and the Patriots lmao

Not all people. I hold no dislike of Brady or the Patriots. The game's more enjoyable if you can find a reason to pull for one team over the other. I was pulling for the Falcons because I tend to prefer the NFC team but primarily because the Falcons had never won a championship. Fifteen years ago I pulled for the Patriots over the Rams because the Patriots had never won a championship and the Rams had won three, the last time just two years prior.

I just like Julian Edelman...otherwise I probably would have gone for the Falcons. I sure felt bad for them. I do like that the Patriots have a lot of white guys on their team :p White guys can run fast too!

You pulled a little too hard. :)

BS, the Falcon's thought they were better than they ended up being. The Pats knew it was theirs for the taking. The Pat's choked for three and half quarters, if the Falcon's were so good they would have put the game out of reach then, the Falcon's couldn't do it. Brady was off, most passes it was by a foot or two, but it was enough that the Pat's couldn't score. If a few of those missed passes were just a foot or two different the Falcons would have been blown out. Something clicked at near the end of the third and Brady started firing on target. From that point on the Falcons, didn't have a chance. Yes that is hind sight talking, but it is undeniable. Brady, followed by his team mates, ate the Falcon's lunch.

It seems that some folks think that if a final score of a game is X to Y that at the end of the first quarter it should be 1/4X to 1/4Y, at the end of the second it should be 1/2X to 1/2Y, etc. and that if for some reason it does not work out that way then something wasn't right. That is just BS. Also if a quarterback's end game completion percentage ends up being a certain percentage then it should be that same percentage throughout the game. That is also BS. That is not how it works out, never has been.

Not quite my thought. The thought is that if your team was able to keep the other team from scoring a touchdown for almost 2/3 of the game, surely your defense wouldn't let the other team score on you every possession for the final 1/3 of the game.

Was there ever any doubt ,they would find a way to win. And I am far from being a cirrus owner or wanta be.

Don't forget the Atlanta offense was off the field for 1.1 That statistic really struck me when I heard it. There's a reason Brady had time to throw in the 2nd half, the Atlanta D were gassed.

That game was a victory for the Patriots, but a defeat for karma.

Karma -- because a team led by proven cheaters deserves to lose -- and this time they didn't.

Guess we agree to disagree

Yup. You won't be swayed by objective criteria and I won't be swayed without.

his career isn't over yet, back to back baby!! Roger that!

Lombardi won back-to-back championships three times. Belichick can match Lombardi's regular season record by winning his next 87 games, he can match Lombardi's playoff record by winning his next 64 playoff games.

What's funny is that the Falcons were caught pumping in crowd noise the same season as Deflategate. Where is the outrage over that? Spygate? What a joke. Every time tries to steal signals. If it was any other team, these would be non stories.

It's true, "You hate us, cuz you ain't us!"

Much easier to do when you get to keep your team intact or replace players as you wish. A luxury that Belichick doesn't have. Also, Lombardi won 5 championships, two of which were superbowls, 1 and 2, the other 3 were the superbowl predecessors, not quite the same. Different era, different game. I love objective data, but you must understand it when you present it. I in no way diminish what Lombardi accomplished, nor do I think the trophy should be renamed. But let's face it, Belichick is probably far from done and the NFL is far more competitive now than it was in those days. Bill's accomplishments are in a day when years of changes to make the NFL more competitive have more than taken effect.
