I've been safety piloting for a Cirrus driver and having an absolute blast doing it. Today I finally got to experience going topside for the first time. I've dreamt this view for years... it was as incredible as I always imagined, more so even.

Awesome pictures..!!!! I still get a kick flying over clouds, and other fantastic sights like these...

When I am over a solid overcast, I feel like a fly flying over a full pitcher of beer..... (the drinkin' part.....)
 
Always felt like I was in a speedboat skimming the tops. Gives you an idea how fast you're actually going. Nice pics Cajun.

Over the clouds is where it's at. You'll rarely catch me underneath.
 
Great photos Cajun! It was scenes very much like that, a little over 16 years ago, as a passenger in a friend's airplane, that got me severely bitten with the flying bug.
 
These are amazing.

I'm not big into art or art museums, but I'm in awe almost daily when I look up at the sky. So much more beautiful than any image a painting could ever capture. And here we are, getting to hop in planes and fly right into it all.
 
I have never done this in a GA plane. I have done so weekly to monthly as a commercial passenger for the last 20 or so years. I always get a window seat. Some of the views are breathtaking and spectacular. I am guessing being the pilot or right seater, or in a small plane makes it that much more awesome?

PBR is my favorite summer beer, well that and Bud Light Lime. When it's 98*F out on the boat on the lake, the last thing you want to be drinking is a high ABV stout or porter. Even IPAs are too much for hot days. Blargh!

There is a beer for every season.

The GPS stamp on my phone says "Ely, Nevada" (eastern Nevada). I think that's a pretty good estimate based on our route and where we might have been at sunset.

If you're looking at the patches on the wing then nope :). That's just the flaking paint. Not sure who did the paint job but it was not very good. Smooth in some areas and rough in others. If I still had the plane and about 20K lying around I would have definitely updated it.
 
Back in the day when I started lessons for my pp, the first couple of lessons where over the clouds. My instructor filed IFR until we got on top and then did VFR for the lessons. I learned the initial basics with the clouds as a horizon and instruments. Fun times, and pretty. To this day I respect clouds.

Was hoping to start in the next month or two, but just got some crappy news and so probably going to be delayed to late spring/early summer. While flying over clouds is amazing (a bit unnerving! ...but amazing), I imagine punching through one and breaking out on top has to be even more so.

Can't wait.
