I agree about the airshow announcers. I wasn't at Airventure this year, but at all airshows in general. Way too many words
and half the time the speakers are so bad and so poorly located that I can't understand a word of it anyway. Not that I want to understand it all, it just makes it that much worse!

Lots of whining this year! Yes, the speakers were loud. Yes, the announcer hardly stopped talking (I think it was his last year before retirement). Yes, it was smokey. Yes, the public trashes the place.

But, we were at Oshkosh. I may have grumbled about a few things while I was there, but I'll be back next year, complaining about the same things. Oh, and I love the yodel in the morning! Enjoy!

Good Morning Oshkosh!

I was up early in the Warbirds camp ground Sunday (today)and the yodeling wasn’t loud to wake me up in a RV with AC. Not exactly like you are going to sleep in camping next door in the homebuilt field with the other noise going on. That said, I thought it was unneeded.

Not a fan of the yodeling, but I get it. It's part of the history and heritage of Oshkosh. I'm really glad there's a speaker at the corner of Vern and Knapp that still belts out Jerry's One Man Band. I was disappointed that someone found a way to turn it down so low it was almost off later in the week.

I actually miss it.... I miss waking up with the rising sun at 5:30. Miss poking my head out of my tent and seeing airplanes. Miss the sound of any variety of aircraft engines overhead as I trudge to get my morning coffee and donut at 6:00 at the S40 Red Barn. When we left on Friday after four days at OSH, I thought I would be happy to be in my home, in my own bed instead of sleeping in a tent on the ground. I'm happy to see my family again, but man I miss OSH. :( What an amazing time. I can't wait to go back next year.
OSH is a special place. Sunday is always the most depressing day of the year for me, packing up to leave and seeing the entire city built on the airport become a ghost town, knowing I won't be seeing a lot of these friends for nearly another year, and some of them ever... And, of course, knowing that there won't be nearly enough airplanes and other flying contraptions in my life for the next 51 weeks.

My wife and I have the Yodeler as a ringtone on our phones. There are only three people (us and my neighbor) that have that. I had to slightly modify it because it lasts longer than the 30 seconds allowed. I just overlaid the "Let's Go Get 'Em" over the trailing edge of the last note.

I've got it also. I use it as my ringtone during July every summer. :-)

<sarcasm>I guess if you need a silly annoying ring tone </sarcasm>.
