I’d love to do this.
I think I’d have a chance;
Good balance - check
Affinity for ridiculous speeds - check
No fear of death - ch…..

The wheels on my skateboard wouldn't turn that fast. Only bushings, I ain't got the ball bearings for that.
FTFY. ;)

That is definitely NOT that guy's first run down that route. He's wearing some protective gear, but probably not enough!

I'm waiting for someone wearing some stuff that says Red Bull on it to do this and then just go flying off the third or fourth switchback and transitioning to the wingsuit before pulling a chute. Or maybe they'll join up with a hang glider on the way down or something.

The sharp turn technique is impressive, much like downhill skiing, almost lost it on 1 turn. Since the road seems to be 1 lane I assume it is made for this. Would be a good olympic sport.

I’m really proud of my carrier heritage… but now that it’s over, I’m good with not cheating death. Took the “for fun” appeal of that right out of me.

You mention NEXT life. Is this the method to get there?!!!!

Back in the day, I had long board, a Santa Monica Airlines 36” deck with Independent trucks and nice sticky Peralta wheels with German precision bearings, which were the thing back then.

Three of us would go into the Catskills at night, Mikey’s girfriend would drive his old Eldorado with the brights on, and we’d ride down mountain roads at night with her right behind us lighting up the roads with that old Eldo.

No protective gear, just jeans, t-shirts, and Vans. We didn’t tuck, so no 100kph, but we were doing about 48kph at the fastest.

Oh to be mid-20’s and invincible again!

So, like a Cub then... just fast enough to kill you.

I don't know, it is more impressive to me knowing his 80 year old grandpa is behind him on a bicycle operating the camera...

My brother in LA was driving east over some mountains, and stopped for two hitchhikers, with long boards.

They told him they regularly hitched to the top, and rolled all the way down. Safety gear? zipper jackets... there were a couple of turns too sharp to make, they unzipped, held out the corners until a safe speed was reached, and rezipped. Crouch after turns to get back up to speed, and pass cars on the straights.

1980's

and maybe ask some trauma medics and nuerosurgeons how many of these guys they've treated or taken to the morgue.

(pardon my grammer, please)

Not too long after Garmin came out with their wristwatch GPS for runners I decided to see what exactly my speed on a ski run was. We were in Western Maryland (The Wisp for those who know) and I got into a tuck and barreled down a moderate slope. The watch recorded speeds in excess of 55 MPH. It was then I though I might want to reconsider what I was doing (going down the hill in just insulated clothes and a cowboy hat).

His mom owns the gym that I work out at in Reno, NV. About a year or two ago, Luke ate serious **** and was hospitalized for a while. He seems to be back to normal again now, whatever that is.

At least on snow if you wipe out you just slide (hopefully not into trees or rocks or lift towers). On pavement you bounce, scrape and roll.
HTH did you keep a Stetson on at 55mph??
I remember one of those days, trying to get as much speed as possible to coast over the long flat at the bottom to the lift line. My cowboy hat a chin strap but it tore loose and the hat blew off, I was way past it before I could think about stopping so I didn't, I would've just retrieved it on the next run, but my buddy who was following behind stopped to pick it up... and had to slog across the flat I had glided over.

But if you want really insane, try wingsuit base jumping, flying nap of the earth down the mountain (lots of YT videos). Looks like an absolute blast... for somebody who's tired of living. A bug hits your face and you flinch and it's all over.

Yeah. I know that on this forum, flying is something some of y'all, like, do, occasionally. But these wingsuit people be crazy as a moon chicken.

Where is this dude even going?

Where's all the people who said they didn't wear helmet skiing? This guy has a helmet, knee pads, gloves with pucks.... He's also very good at what he does. Good to see people having fun.
