NA - How the heck do concert tickets work now?

Have you “become so numb” yet to tech problems? lol

Funny story... if you're not me. I did the same thing a few years back, so we KNOW whether the silly thing is closed or not. The app had a nice feature -- automatically close the garage door if it's been open more than X minutes, or close the garage door if it's open at X time - like at night, right?

Too bad neither the garage door opener nor the controller can tell if the hatch on the back of my wife's SUV is still open becuase we were loading or unloading when 9 PM rolled around. I managed to get the scratch buffed out, but of course she "still knows it's there". Sigh.
Yeah, ours does that too. And then my wife learned the hard way why you don't rock out to music in your car for exactly five minutes and then back out. :nono:

Also, if you're going somewhere with both cars, it's a bad idea to pull the car with the auto-close feature out first.

Sigh.

The issue I have (Aside from the $100 convivence fee) is downloading an ap for every gd thing.
I now have Seat Geek, Ticketmaster, and Google wallet and I am going to delete all 3 after the show.
I'm with you on the convenience fee.

For the rest: Still better than driving to Sears, finding the ticket window, standing in line, buying tickets and driving home. As we did in the 70's.

wait, try wallet out on a few things, airline tickets etc.... you may find it useful.
I had a layover in Philly recently. When I turned on my phone wallet asked me if I wanted to add the public transportation pass that I didn't know existed and/or hadn't paid for yet. But it sounds useful for those sorts of things.

Enh. I am wary of things that purport to be for my benefit and convenience but are actually onramps without offramps / data diodes / margin enhancment. If it makes me more dependent on my phone... pass.

I get it, sort of. although everything you said is coming from someone who hasn't used it whereas I have. so, from someone who HAS used it, I'm trying to say it's none of the things you mentioned. I use wallet only when I use wallet and it hasn't made me MORE dependent on my phone, it just simplified something I was already using my phone for. and I get it, mobile boarding pass vs mobile boarding pass on wallet, what's the difference?.....not a huge amount, but I do like wallet better for something like that. so use it or don't use it, I don't care, I'm simply offering feedback really to people specifically like you. no one NEEDS wallet for tix or boarding passes, it's just a nice way to organize and use those things.

I bought Linkin Park tickets through Seat Geek.
I get an emeil stating that the venue uses a 3rd party to sell the tickets.
Turns out it is ticket master.

Download the Ticketmaster app and go there the next time. You should get the ticket right away and you can the load them to you Apple Wallet

Seat Geek, Stub Hub, and the others are just another obstacle in the already overpriced frustrating task of seeing a nickel and dime you to death concert or a sports event these days..

Used StubHub to get tickets for Eric Clapton a while back... I don't get the actual ticket until the morning of the concert.

Correct, Apple Wallet if a convivence thing

I get it. I think I did use it once for something, can't remember what.

I maintain that it's all of the things I mentioned. If you want to use wallet and apple pay, you need to be logged in and have iCloud turned on; there's the data diode part. Ever try turning off iCloud once it's on? Giant MFPITA. That's the offramp part. The margin enhancement comes from reducing fraud and counterfeiting, which are good things, if you're ticketmaster.

I am also grumpy because I need to turn off like 5 security things every time I want to park in a parking lot that makes me scan some sketchy QR code in order to pay.

Downloading untrusted code bad, visiting untrusted sites bad, scanning random QR codes bad, plugging in usb keys you found in the parking lot bad...

My momma told me not to trust a strange computer. Or was that C3PO...

So, there's some truth to that... I couch surfed at a cousin's house recently. I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of some random hard drive spinning up (people still have those?). Couldn't get back to sleep after that.
That's at least fairly quiet. Before our move, the home office was a room off our master bedroom, with about an 8' entry, so no door to close it off.

Our inkjet printer liked to randomly go into self-clean mode some nights. It was an HP, so it sounded like an old Chevy filled with tin cans, bottles, bubble wrap and hyenas getting fed into a car crusher. Terrifying way to wakeup. It was still printing fine when I decided it had to go.

But the good news is, Ticketmaster simply Does Not Care. They already have your money, it matters not the slightest bit to them whether or not you get to use them.

I was never a big concert goer, but I reached the point years ago when I absolutely, positively refuse to go to any event in which Ticketmaster is involved. Their predatory pricing, nondisclosure of fees, and refusal to do anything to address the problem of bots instantly buying up tickets to some of the most popular concerts pushed me over the edge.

I've missed an occasional concert that I would have liked to attend, but I refuse to give them another penny. Horrible company.

I'm surprised it wasn't summarily executed, office space style.

I got a new dishwasher and it has an app. I haven't downloaded it because there is nothing about the dishes upon which my phone can improve.

NO! I'm not talking to you on my toaster.

Always sunny did an episode about our love affair with apps and how stupid it is needing an app for every gd thing
