So many services are surcharged, there are probably only two things which are not!
Why don't you just set your rates at what you need to make your business viable and stop SURprising people with SURcharges??

I won't delve deeply into their Priority doublespeak which amounts to lying to their customers.
"Hey I selected Priority Overnight service and it didn't get there overnight, it took two nights to get there."
"Oh, I see sir - we do not offer one night service to that area"
"But I was charged for the faster service, correct?"
    "Yes sir, I'm sorry sir."
"Well, may I request a refund for each of these times I paid for the faster service but was only given the lesser service?"
"Oh, sir - the name we give to the 2-night service in that area is Priority Overnight so you paid the correct amount" (does this guy really have a straight face on right now, or has he hit the mute button so I can't hear him snorting or guffawing at me?)
"So I pay for, and you offer "Priority Overnight" but in fact the package takes 2 nights, is that what you are saying?"
    "Yes sir, I'm sorry sir."
<thumping sound as I beat my head into the drywall, carefully avoiding the studs>

But if you asked for two day, it would have taken four. Sounds fair.

    Where is irrelevant.
They offer something, tell you it's that, then do not provide what was sold.

    Similar issue with freight items....

Once paid for 2 day service to ship an engine Uvalde.

Thing sat at the dock in SAT for a week before "they had enough items" to drive 90 miles to the west.

Best story I have is I shipped some airplane parts to a guy for modification, large items at that. The guy passed away while the parts were in transit with no immediate surviving family. When I called to stop the shipment from being delivered I was told I could t do that, someone had to refuse the shipment. I told them there was no one alive to do that. The package sat on his door step for 2 weeks while I called everyone who knew anything g about him trying to get them to go get the package and ship it back to me. Felt like a real you know what calling friends and relatives asking if they would ship the package at their dead grandfathers house back to me with promise I’ll pay them back.
