NA - Defogging car windows (Exterior) What's the secret?

Darn.
I was hoping there was a chemical. Rain X is great for removing water. I hoped Fog X would do the same for fog but Fog X may as well just be more fog in a bottle. Does nothing.
Have you tried the Rain X glass cleaner? We’ve seen decent results after applying to interior and exterior. On the interior’s - just make sure to really buff them or you’ll get some nasty streaking/residue.

Heck, my folks moved, but I found 'em anyway.

I knew my parents were looking for a new house. I was going to school out of town, and came home one weekend and found the house empty. This was before cell phones, so I had to find a dime to make a phone call. I also had to wait until about 5:30p so my parents would be at home.

I will never forget the moving speech my dad gave on my HS graduation.

''Son, you are a HS graduate now. So get a job and get out of the house...''

It works that way here, too. My wife gets to park in the cozy 1-car garage bay, I have to park uphill at the top of the driveway and walk back and forth to my car.

The mitigating factor is that I decided to put a nice woodshop in the two-car garage bay, which kinda limits my ability to complain about the situation.
Same here, except the wood shop is in the single bay, utility trailer in half the double bay, and assorted junk in the other half. I do manage to get my wife’s truck in if it looks like it’ll hail or something.

BTW, anybody need a 4x8 trailer? ;)

Ummm,What was that airline you fly for again?

Never going to happen. Have you seen what things cost?
My daughter wants to go to med school. She will be living here until she's 30.
My son wants to be a teacher. He will be living here the rest of his life.
So you're an enabler.

He should at least make him move in with his sister eventually. :)

What is the secret to preventing fog on the outside of your windshield? With temps dropping and the kids' cars live outside over night, The windows fog up.
Wipe it off, and it comes right back. Once the car is warm, the defroster will fix it but nobody is sitting in the driveway for 15 minutes and waiting for this.
I tried a few different glass cleaners. That didn't solve the problem. Both kids drive on a busy road into the morning sun. This is not safe. Is there a product I can apply that will prevent this?

One thing that might help: look to see if the "Recirc" function is on. Believe it or not, I've found that turning it off actually helps to clear the windshield faster. Check out the short paragraph about 2/3 of the way down in this article. It explains why. https://thriftychap.com/how-to-use-the-air-recirculation-button-in-your-vehicle/#google_vignette

On the inside, yes. You want to get rid of the moisture and not recirculate it. That's why cars with auto climate control turn recirc off when defog is selected.

Not sure how that helps for outside condensation, though. You'll get a warm windshield faster if you recirculate already warm cabin air instead of trying to constantly heat cold outside air with a heater core that's still warming up.

So there I was… a lowly plebe at the naval academy, from south central Nebraska. My parents said they were gonna move to Kansas City or something… ya, cool.

As wasn’t unusual, hadn’t called home in 5 or 6 weeks, I got a letter from Omaha. Don’t know anybody in Omaha. Open it and find it’s from my parents.

Gee, glad I didn’t DIE or something. They’d have sent the body to the wrong place…

Literally, my parents moved and didn’t give me a forwarding address. Don’t know what to make of that…

To the original topic, clean the INSIDE of the cars windshield with windex or ammonia.

Edit: as a smoker I’ve noticed that a thin film smoke residue deposits on the inside and it combined with moisture on the outside seems to bounce and diffuse light back and forth and produces the exact same results as in your picture, clean the inside and it just passes through and the glare essentially disappears.

He's talking about the condensation on the outside.... but yeah, same principle I think. clean it...or even better polish it.

I polished my daughter's windshield because it was doing a similar thing. The blades couldn't keep up. Polishing compound and buffer, followed by a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol. Then I treated it with Glaco. She said it helped, but just yesterday she told me that it's back. Maybe I need to do it again.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me.
One year when Spring quarter was over I drove 400 miles home to my parents.
I pulled up in the driveway and saw that they bought a new car. The house was locked so I knocked and waited. No answer.
I went to a pay phone (remember those) and called their number but the phone was disconnected. Portable phone numbers wouldn't become available until around 20 years later.
I called 411 and got their new number. I had the operator put me through (another fond memory) and Mom answered. She was surprised I didn't know because she sent me a letter with her address over a month ago. People still wrote letters then, but I never got it.
