N93AV

It needs to be registered and it needs a new C of A which will probably require a conformance inspection by the local FSDO.

Why would it need a new certificate of airworthiness?

When an aircraft is deregistered,is not the C of A deregistered as well?

Mark

I do not believe it is, I'll check.

b. A standard airworthiness certificate remains valid as long as maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations are performed in accordance with 14 CFR parts 21, 43, and 91.

That says nothing about revocation of the AWC when de-registered.

I don't think so ether, when I bought mine the reg had just expired, sent in a bill of sale and did the new reg form from the FSDO and that was that.

It will need to be registered which will require a bill of sale and the FAA application being filed. You can fly with the pink for 90 days, however you would either need to annual it in place or get a SFP to fly it away as it is due annual.

No kidding. Makes me wanna go up there, buy it and bring it home to teach in when I get my CFI in a few months.

When the pink slip hits OKC does that count as a re-registration?

Yep, you are changing registration, not re-registering it. They specifically seperated the processes. The re-registration restrictions apply to the present owner. When you as a new owner file, you're good on the pink.

Not quite, it just becomes ineffective without registration. Kinda like you pilot's license and medical have to go together.

Does expiration of registration affect an aircraft's airworthiness certificate?

Because an aircraft with an expired registration is not registered, its airworthiness certification would be considered ineffective. Without registration the aircraft is not authorized for flight. Once registration is restored, the airworthiness certificate not having been surrendered, revoked or terminated would become effective again provided the aircraft is otherwise compliant with maintenance, inspections, and any other requirements for an effective airworthiness. If you have further questions please contact an airworthiness inspector through your nearest Flight Standards District Office.

5 bucks to re register it with the FAA if it is with a new owner. Pink slip stays in plane until real one arrives in the mail.

you should read the cover sheets of the forms 8050-1 and the 8050-2. You will discover your misunderstanding.

When buying an aircraft both forms must be sent to the FAA at OKC.

One is to report the sale to you. and changes the legal owner to you. The second is to register the aircraft in your name.

You do realize that the FAA will not register the aircraft in your name until you show legal ownership via the bill of sale.

Looks to me like a bill of sale, registration slip, and an inspection or two and she'd be good to go. But considering those times, I'd expect the inspections will lead to a few more a/w actions.

I've been through it, you send in the standard form saying you bought it along with the bill of sale, and you are good on the pink. The present owner does not have to reregister it first.

Y'all are picking pepper from fly paper......the bigger issue is that runout engine. This ain't a $30K plane with a new engine.

It's priced that way.:nono:

I never said they did, now tell us what is this standard form you speak of?

I was considering it as a project to put out for rental, I'd prefer a much lower TT aircraft. but as far as 150s go those are becoming difficult to find.

The one the FSDO sends/hands me when I tell them I need the form to buy a plane. Guessing that's the 8050-1.:dunno:
