He moved to Texas for a job. I really liked him. Not too hard, not too easy, just right. There are other instructors but they are at the flight school and young. building hours for the ATP, not that there is anything wrong with that. My guy was an independent.

For the other pilots in eastern NC, does anyone have a CFII that they like? A good instructor but fun to fly with. Someone that instructs because they like to instruct. I have my IR so I am looking for BFRs and instrument currency.

Oh man, I saw the title and thought your instructor had passed away. Happy to hear condolences are not necessary.

Still, finding a good instructor can be difficult. I wish you good luck!

I can highly recommend Scott Best / OBX Flight. His training is out of Johnston Regional Airport (KJNX).

I have heard really good things about their IR program. I tried to get on the schedule for early spring, but they seem to be booked up until fall 2020. I was trying for their accelerated program.

I feel your pain. I had a great CFI who passed away in the middle of my IFR training. It took me an additional 6 months to find another instructor to help me finish. Because of the local shortage, I've decided to get my CFI to try and help others like me. The only problem is my current CFI is flying big iron and isn't up to speed with small GA maneuvers and procedures. :(

    Haha haha! I hear ya.

I myself loved moving to Texas from NC. I don’t have to file that state return anymore!

Moving from OR (and CA) to WA solved that one for me 24 years ago. One of the few benefits left to living here. The locusts are getting thick.

Is it weird that when I read posts by Martin I hear his voice in my head? I guess it's because I've watched so many of his videos.

How bout that proposition on state income tax on the recent November ballot... the one where if you didn't read they say it was worded, a no vote would allow the TX legislature to make state income tax happen.

Good thing voters were awake enough to defeat it by voting yes versus seeing the worlds "income tax" and knee jerk vote no.

    https://ballotpedia.org/Texas_Propo...te_Income_Tax_on_Individuals_Amendment_(2019)

Texas Proposition 4, the Prohibit State Income Tax on Individuals Amendment, was on the ballot in Texas as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 5, 2019. The measure was approved.

A "yes" vote supported adding an amendment to prohibit the state from levying an income tax on individuals to the Texas Constitution, which requires a two-thirds legislative vote and a statewide referendum to amend.

A "no" vote opposed this amendment, thus continuing to allow the state to enact a tax on individuals in the future through a simple

That amendment didn't accomplish anything significant. Texas hasn't had a state income tax for 173 years even without a prohibition in the state constitution. That was unlikely to change anytime soon regardless.

I agree. But the wording of the proposition was a bit sneaky.
