These chart enhancements contain many improvements including different colors for speeds and altitudes and terrain overlays. It should be noted Optimized Profile Descent (“Descend Via”) procedures do not change. However, the depiction of the hard “at” altitudes on the enhanced SID/STAR charts do change. Hard, “at” altitudes will be depicted in cyan (light blue) with solid bars above and below the altitude. The plain language “at” will no longer be included.

Example: KORRY 3 ARRIVAL (KLGA/LGA)

Prior to commencing and OPD STAR In the altitude selector it is recommended to set only the altitude constraints along the arrival that are published as an “at.” On enhanced SID/STAR charts, these “at” altitudes are depicted in cyan with a solid cyan bar above and below the depicted altitude. In this case the crew should plan to cross KORRY at 10,000ft, and should set the altitude alerter accordingly.

This change aligns Jeppesen SID/STAR charts with standard ICAO formats for depicting altitudes. Pay close attention to the new formats when referencing SID/STAR charts at these airports. More airports will be converted into this new format over the next two

This month's IFR magazine has an article on these new chart designs.
