Doing a bit a research into tandem seat cockpits and I’m looking for info on how the J3’s throttles are connected together with each other and the carb. Can someone post a description?

If I recall correctly, it's similar to the Super Cub. A rod connects both throttle levers then it's a cable to the carb.

  • Front seat. Tie rod mounts low. Throttle cable at front seat position attaches higher.

Torque seal is a great visual tool to mark connections that are complete so those that aren’t are easier to recognize.

Yup. We used it as an indication that the independent inspection had been done. In Canada any engine or flight controls that have been "disturbed" during maintenance require an inspection by a second technician once the item has been reassembled, and an entry in the logs with the two signatures. The law came about after aircraft accidents due to incorrect assembly and/or safety locking. Each of us had a different color of torque seal so we'd know who looked at it last. It can also show if anything has shifted in service, such as a loosening nut or fitting, if it's applied across the joint.
