[rant] I get irritated when I buy the Amazon fire stick and I can click the button and talk and the TV uses "Alexa" to search for what I have just asked and the words I spoke appear on the screen BUT when I go to Amazon video streaming search window the little keyboard pops up on the screen and I have to go left left enter right right right down down right enter left up up up enter down down enter left left up left enter.

Why be so innovative but not connect such a simple dot?
    [/rant]

Is there a TV system out there that allows me to speak my searches into any open textbox?

I think you're missing the B A Start at the end to get 30 extra men.

Back in the day, we didn't have to go to the effort to speak to search the channels. We searched silently with a direct neural-chemical-mechanical linkage between brain and the tuner, kinda like the Vulcan mind meld. 0 buffering and 0 network latency. Channel 4 - Channel 5 - Channel 12 - Channel 4 - Channel 5 - channel 12 - etc

The new Apple TV’s have a Siri feature that lets you talk to the remote. Works well for all of the apps we use (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, etc.). If you have an iPhone, you can use it as the remote too.

Back when I was young we actually had to get up and walk to the Tv to change the channel. And we only had 4 channels...

    Dam kids....:lol::lol:

Now I have 500 channels and there is nothing on that I want to watch....

Uphill through the shag carpet. Both ways.

Well, we had parquet floors. And they were level. But still, 3 channels. Black & white. And tubes. You had to wait for the set to come on. It was tough I tell you!

    Ravioli's True Story Time:

In 1985 I had a friend who was in to MTV (mostly) and TV in general. Real life couch tater.

The remote control broke and his mother refused to fix it.

He went to the store and got a 7' long dowel so he could sit on the couch and still change channels.

And then turn off the Tv and then watch the little white dot get smaller and smaller until it disappears....

My dad bought a Zenith in 1954 and it worked until 1983....6 years after I graduated high school. When he went to buy a new Tv, he got a color Tv only because there were no black and whites in the store...

Oh yes. And the test pattern if you got up early (6AM). My dad repaired TVs as a side line until they went to printed circuit boards. All of ours were repaired sets that he'd been given until well after I was out of high school. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. But ours didn't get fixed first...

My wife and I were married in 1981 and we didn't get a TV until the US hosted the Olympics and the Orlando Magic went to the NBA finals. 1996. Our kids were limited... but they've all turned out well...

The dowel is still technically a remote, right?

I'd love to play in there but the warehouse is run like a prison. Metal detectors and locking cages etc. We don't own the stuff we fix and are legally bound to a lot of security on behalf of Samsung and the others. So no science experiments for me. I would love to get some time alone with the 3D printers

Got a Fire Stick, and first business was "modifying" the mic in the remote, rendering it inoperable.

So she would prefer bloops, bleeps, and Anthony Daniels?
