Interview for Denver Intl

Congrats, avoid having a thin skin and a thick head on the new job :)

Congratulations, and here's hoping this is the beginning of many successes!

On behalf of your Colorado POA Family, I hope you'll reach out to us when you arrive so we can take you out for drinks!
And, I hope you reach out if you need anything from your local 'pilot family.' Welcome to Colorado and your new job!

The area just south/southwest of DIA (between I70 and 58th) is booming with apts and condos for the airline/airport staff. Or go further east to Bennett - little town right on I-70 and take the backroad into DIA. Anything north of DIA are McMansions.
I have a temporary solution in Erie. One of the people I was shadowing said they live a bit north of there and that it wasn't a terrible commute except for the high toll cost (which can be avoided if you take surface streets.

(Anyone else worried that he's arriving on Pearl Harbor Day? LOL?)
I didn't notice that...My twisted plan is coming to fruition! I hope Denver is ready for me :D

Thank you! I intend to get back into currency and fly if I get time. And have enough money. :goofy:I suck at handling alcohol (doesn't take much at all) but I'm down!

He's moving from OKC (sorta) to Denver. He prolly wants to borrow $200.
I burned my financial reserves to a stump going up there twice, I'm gonna be on fumes until that first paycheck after the 3rd and final time. But after that I'll be positive rate the whole way.

If it becomes permanent PM me that's relatively close to me!

If you need any used household items or furniture, either now or in the future, let me know. I am trying to downsize.

Sure thing! I can't imagine living in Denver proper, I'd like to stay out of the insane traffic but close enough so that I can get to the airport and also on roads that are plowed relatively quickly. I have an internet friend I've known for ~7 years and he's agreed to let me stay with him until I get financially set and the GF can follow.

That is awfully nice of you. I may actually take you up on that offer. I came to OK with one car load of stuff, and I intend on leaving the same way. Desk/computer/clothes/some important stuff. A futon if I can fit it.

Watch the training video, review the MSDS, pass the qualification test and you'll be good to go.
:raspberry: What kind of PPE do I need?

Unfamiliar with BSI, say again! Time is of the essence :D

Maybe it has something to do with the wacky weed Colorado sells. hmm....

So, what is DIA's marijuana policy anyway? I have been wondering how Colorado businesses are handling that .

Colorado businesses are not required by law to tolerate marijuana use by employees. Employers are free to make their own policies including zero tolerance.

One of the divisions of my employer is making a killing breaking the bad news to people who don't pay attention to their company policies or the policies of potential employers. That's the division that just had us upgrade and update their phone system.

You hear weird things in our call center.

"Okay thank you for describing all of your prescriptions to me. None of those can account for the levels of cocaine found in your system. We will be reporting this as a positive result to the employer and if you wish to pay for a retest within the next 14 days, you're allowed to, but I warn you that with levels this high there is almost no chance it will change the result. Do you have any questions for me? Ok. Have a nice day."

If you're job is like any other airport operations job I'm familiar with, with the schedule you'll be working, you won't need to worry about traffic too much.

I have an internet friend I've known for ~7 years and he's agreed to let me stay with him until I get financially set and the GF can follow.

You're bringing a GF with you? Sigh. :sigh:

I know I'm highly attractive and have a pretty good career going for myself right now but I think we should just be friends

Has no one had the "don't take a ham sandwich with you to a buffet" speech with you yet?

Beginners do well with a bib, some need a helmet, but respirators are not recommended.

Congrats and good luck, BTW, I'm serious about the pics, you would not believe what National Enquirer pays for pics....

Not yet. Although I'm pretty satisfied and full with this ham sandwich... I could get into trouble at a buffet!

Thank you. And as much as that may be, I dunno if it'd be worth it to basically ensure i never work in airport ops again due to breach of privacy :P

And since this is already a great thread, might as well announce that the ham sandwich is not a girlfriend anymore.

I'm engaged

Congratulations!! You're on a freaking streak. Mine as well as have her pee on the stick and see if we can make it a trifecta of good news.

If the good are good, they pay seven figures, that would be worth burning bridges for.;)

Semi-settled in Erie now. First day was today, a bunch of paperwork but them a lot of cool stuff including a tower tour and airside operations run and other great things. Exhausted but more tomorrow and all week as my training starts. I think they are hooking up the firehose as we speak...

Also I25-270-70-Pena is really rough. 470 toll road is really direct but costs a lot for what I hear. I'm going to try it once tomorrow for reference and to know how it looks and runs before anything crazy weather wise happens etc. Do any of you Denver guys know of any good surface streets that I could take? I'm still trying to learn ways to get there and back.

Also Henning I had to sign a confidentiality agreement so I can't tell you or the Enquirer or anyone else about the secret illuminati base!

Came home through DIA this evening. Didn't see anyone who reminded me of that avatar...
