So in my search for higher employment, I sent an application to DIA for an OnCall airport ops position. Drove to Denver a week or two ago to take a test (CritiCall) and passed. Got offered an interview on Skype and did fairly well.

I got a call for a second follow-up interview and a tour at DIA this coming Tuesday! I'm flying in Monday afternoon/out Tuesday evening. The trip is a hard hit on the wallet but I am optimistic!

No pressure... :D  :(

I told Overdrive that I'm sorry I'll be out of town next week but maybe the rest of the Denver gang might want to get together. Calling Murphey!

Good Luck! Even if you can't get together this time maybe we can have a welcome to Colorado party. :D

Good luck with the final interview! Sounds like you're in as long as you don't say/do something stupid hahaha

Fair warning about the place the Denver Gang invited me to when I was there in April. There was a dispensary next door.

I had asked to go to some place with local flavor, but that was a bit over the top.

Just kidding. They are great people. Enjoy your visit and best of luck on the interview

There's a dispensary next door to everything these days. They've cropped up everywhere and we don't even notice until someone from out of town notices one. Heh.

They're like liquor stores or gas stations. They just blend into the scenery and are mostly ignored unless you're looking for one.

If you've got time for dinner on Monday, let us know. You'll probably be staying near DIA, there are a number of restaurants (all chains) up there. Unfortunately I'm teaching Monday night, wouldn't be able to get there until 9 pm or so, but others are around.

Why are you paying for travel expenses? They should reimburse you.
No relocation reimbursement either. The job is just under full time so no benefits either until a full time opens up. The guy I'm interviewing with is really nice about it though, understands that it sucks and said I didn't have to show ASAP but whenever is relatively cheap and soon on my schedule. Doesn't seem to be the type to want me to spend a ton of money if I had no chance at the job. Dunno yet. Still nervous.

9pm or any time after I get there is fine - I will be landing around 2-3pm Monday and shuttling from the airport to a row of hotels near DIA (can't afford a courtesy car). My flight out is at like 8pm Tuesday so I imagine I'll have the to do whatever after the interview and tour too. Mostly just a heads up that I'll be in town but I'm down to see some people too. Just can't go far or spend much!

Heh. I was scheduled for an interview with DIA once as well. Just a different DIA.

Good luck on the interview. They are their own special hell when you really need a job.

Yeah, don't ask about the secret Illuminati base underneath DIA.

Late lunch on Tuesday works for me (3 or 4 pm) up there. As I said, lots of the chains, some not that expensive.

God luck on the interview.

Good luck on the interview. You would think that interviewing for an airport, maybe they would cover the travel...

P.S. Your avatar... I see its back. I think i'm going to have a seizure

Since everyone's saying POA is falling apart, I figure I might as well do my part! :wink2:

Thanks for the good luck wishes guys! No pressure.

Touchdown in Denver (technically twice with the landing we had). Sitting in the hotel room trying to figure out anything else that'll be important for tomorrow. Went by the office after I deplaned so I can get there easier tomorrow, then stood on the wrong side of the building waiting for my shuttle like a genius.

I've actually never had a second interview before... Assuming it's just a more intense and technical interview? I wanted to ask what to expect but I'm not sure that's such a good idea. Researching the airport right now but not sure what other areas to hit in my spare time tonight.

The skype interview was a panel style, so I think this one will be too. Optimistic and nervous since it's the biggest job I've ever gotten an interview for.

Good luck.
Try not to be nervous, its normal but keep your cool.

If you have no clue about something say so. Don't try to BS too much.

I was just down there yesterday....

Hey overdrive, how was the interview? I hope you did well. :)

And just wondering, how did you know about this airport ops position? I didn't find any on call airport ops position at DIA except for high-level managers and supervisors on the AAAE website.

Did you found out about the position through word of mouth?

I actually found out about position through Indeed ("aviation" in "denver co") and the denver.gov jobs website (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/denver).

Here's the job description:

I'll post tomorrow in more detail but overall I think it went very well. It's like whack a mole with cameras and radios. I should know later this week if I did well enough to get the job. I was in the ops center for about 9 hours total today. Did some aptitude tests and sat in on one of the most intense sessions they've had apparently.

Who cares, it's weed, not like they are selling cigarettes, prescription pills, hard alcohol, or anything dangerous :dunno:

That sounds promising, good luck man!

well? do we know anything yet?

???

???

;)

I was told 'later this week' so I think that leaves tomorrow. Expecting the phone to ring any time, I can't go anywhere without it!

then your avatar is appropriate. He looks stressed.

He is -very- stressed. The only reason he can be here is because of his fan following, he's pretty popular around here :wink2: :D

I guess not.

We're all pulling for you.

Waiting on pins and needles here, I know... Maybe they'll call early Monday?

The call for the 2nd interview came later Monday evening after 5pm, maybe there's some weird hours or more deliberation.
