If I won the Lottery

Both:

an old straight tail 182 with a towhook a bank account earning enough interest to keep a towpilot on staff.

What, no Stemme for the help's day off?

One of those and a Beech 18 for my Nephew to fly me around in.

Or should I get an A-26 and paint the nose with a drawing of my mom like the one my dad maintained? He would have gotten a kick out of that.

I'd settle for a Lancair Turboprop.

Sat next to a guy on a commercial flight yesterday who flys one. Impressive specs - >300 kts, 29,000' and 28 GPH JetA.

Big money can go fast if not careful. You may be spending a lot of time fending off strangers as a lot of winners do. And, it seems that many a lottery winners end up Bankrupt after several years.

I'd love to see a reality show about former lottery winners.

Nevermind, "The biggest loser" is already taken.

I wouldn't have to fend off too many strangers. Steve is my middle name, and very few people know my first name. I'd collect under my first name, and spend it under my middle name.

What part of "NO" don't you understand?

I select my charities. And only the ones I select see any of my money. Winning the lottery wouldn't change the rules. Or my response to requests for donations. I'm not a politician running in a popularity contest.

Plenty of humorous anecdotes...

On August 5, 2003, thieves smashed the driver's window of his SUV, which was parked at the Pink Pony strip club in Cross Lanes, W.Va., and stole a briefcase containing $245,000 in cash and three $100,000 cashier's checks belonging to Whittaker. Whittaker, who had been drunk at the club and allowed to stay past its 3:00 a.m. closing time, notified police of the loss at 5:20 a.m.

Problem is, you become a PR tool for the lottery and they parade you around on TV and the paper. Pretty hard to be anonymous...

Ok, I'll change, er add to my previous answer. I want a Starship. They are SOOOOOOOo cool.
Missa, the starship is an awesome airplane!....however, there's no way I'd buy one. There are only a few in existance and the parts are not interchangable with other aircraft aka you'd be charged out the wahzoo for parts that will soon be unavailable anyways. I know many of the parts are being makeshifted to work but I still don't trust it as far as I can throw it. I'd rather take the money I'd save from parts and put it towards another aircraft! hmmm....I'm thinking a biplane. :D

you can't get parts for starships. beech doesnt support them anymore. almost all of them are (ive heard) sitting somewhere at beech field here in wichita. i think rutan kept his.

I'm still wondering how he's going to keep his operational.

Using owner produced parts. He certainly has the resources to make a little hinge, composite repairs or a bushing for the landing gear. All the engine stuff is still supported. Not an option for someone who needs dispatch reliability, but for a connoiseur with deep pockets this is an option. I don't think anyone supports the P51 these days, yet there are a number of them flying.

The smart ones have their attorneys pick up the check and deposit into an account under their stewardship, keep a blind between them and the $$. I don't know the exact details, but I know it's been done (big lotteries collected anonymously). Trouble is, most folks who play and win are thrilled with all the attention.

Okay, now I know the trick. I need to go to law school and become a "lottery law specialist" so that I can get people to give me their winning tickets. :D

well i believe Rutan helped designed the airplane so that should give him a leg up on anyone else as far as maintaining it.

Jeez, you people have NO imaginations. It's all 'this airplane, that airplane.' Don't you have any creativity? Any outside interests? Anything better to do with your lives than to squander a lottery on airplanes??? SHeesh!

:D

I'm gonna have to get a high-altitude endorsement, and I wonder if it is covered by my HP endorsement.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a glider rating...or at least a type rating.

OK, I'm retiring, selling everything and volunteering for, um, something, overseas. :)
