This Saturday, I will be coming into a decent chunk of money. Not sure of the exact amount until Saturday night around 2259 EST, but it should be $120M-$150M after the lump sum, taxes, and splitting it with my coworker.

I plan on setting $5M aside for savings and spending the remaining $115M+ on an airplane. It needs to be fast, shiny, low-wing, and have enough range to allow me to commute to Tokyo several times per month from PDX. I like Trump's 757, but was hoping for something a bit more sporty and modern. A parachute and amphibious capabilities would be a plus.

I currently have zero hours, so I'll also need to train in this aircraft. What plane fits the bill?

Thanks POA,

Odd. I know several people expecting a large windfall this Saturday. I wonder if even one of them will actually be right. Personally, I doubt it. One thing they fail to realize is that expecting to win the Powerball is ridiculously stupid

when I just bought the winning ticket.

I hope we get the details on what bank you use and what your account/routing number are etc, etc, etc.

My first thought would be a P-51. I know they don't have the range but with that much money, you could engineer something, right? Right??

Way cooler than any private jet if you ask me. Those are so last year.

I think you need to modify your plans. Invest the money and live off the interest, which generally you should be able to spend 4% of the total net worth each year. That would amount to a neat $6,000,000 per year for $150 million. So a million to live off of, a million for fuel, $4 million per year for your aviation addiction. Prosper.

If I had near unlimited funds for an airplane it would be either the new C680 or the new C750. Gulfs teams and global stock are nice, but WILL eat up $100m before you know it.

They are all amphibious once...

Here is the thought experiment: Assume a nearly unlimited aviation budget, how long would you live? If you buy a 757 and fly it around all proper probably a longtime. If you buy a P-51, a helicopter, etc. your time on this earth might be foreshortened. It is the lack of money to create the aviation experiences that would kill us theory of safety. And of course there is the Steve Fossett type thing a regular crash but you get more chances of exposure via unlimited flying budget.

For business jets, there seems to really be just three choices of companies what make an aircraft capable of the 4300 nm trip - Gulfstream, Bombardier or Desault. The Falcon is distinctive with the third engine, but I like the look of the Bombardier Global 7000 ($72m). The 7000 won't be certified until later this year, maybe you could be the lead customer.

Now if you want to get crazy, go for a 747. But I dunno know how you'll operate it.

It will be pushing one billion if no one hits Saturday. I think I heard you could probable buy 450 trips into space, maybe even a stay on the space station. Me, I think I'd settle for a decent new single, and maybe a long haul biz jet so I can get out and exercise my passport. Just remember that to make a little money in aviation, you start with a lot.

Something pressurized, FIKI, 2 engines and brand new, with that kind of money I want the smell of new leather. Since I would be buying my own island in Bahamas, needs to be able handle 3000' runway.

I had a dream last night. Considering the exponential advancement of technology in general, the rapid adoption of new tech in GA, and the state of the Chinese stock market....I'm now thinking I should convert all the dollars to yuan, wait 2 years, and buy a scramjet. I like to visit KPFC and their 1800x30 rwy, so will need a big chute or a catch-net of some sort. Can anybody recommend a scramjet CFI in the Portland area?

Why don't you just buy a small flat in Tokyo so you can stay a month at a time with your honey(s)? Cathay first class is going to be more comfortable than any bizjet you're going to buy when you need to go back to the States for whatever reason. Wife maybe. Remember you need to throw her a few bones too.

You aren't spending $115M on a plane. If you buy a $115M plane, you need to allot $200K per trip. If you want your own plane, you're buying a $20M plane.

Tokyo is expensive. Once you've come to grips with the fact that owning your own jet doesn't make any sense, $115M will let you ride out a few years there. Unless you overdo it with the hookers and blow. Once finances start running low then consider relocating to Cambodia or Laos. Bigger bang for the buck plus it's warm down there.

This is part of my regular daydream process...

For me it would still be a good 4 place single for local fun flying as well as a solid aerobatic performance plane but I think I would still stick with a King Air for me to fly single pilot and go with NeJets for long haul flights where I just need to get there and not worry about the equipment.

King Air? I always thought a little Citation CJ was a better value.

Falcon 8X. The test pilots pulled the circuit breakers for overspeed protection and we're able to get .99 during straight and level. Thats the kind of plane I want.

Show the proof... I flew the C750 for years, a true .92 airplane. Once above .90, the engineering increases exponentially. If the airplane can do .99, that would be quite a marketing coo. I can't imagine they would add speed protection if the airplane was truly capable of such a feat.

Kritchlow, The Ten+ was said to have gone super during its certification last year. I don't doubt the claims. I dont have proof either.

I can say in the DA7X that max cruise we can get .9 (max) and there is still a good amount of throttle left to go.

The regular X "supposedly" went supersonic in a descent. I don't have confirmation of that. The airplane would not go Mach 1 in straight and level...

An old joke:

A teacher asks the kids in her 3rd grade class: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Little Larry says: "I wanna start out as a Fighter Pilot, then be a billionaire, go to the most expensive clubs, find me the finest whore, give her a Ferrari worth over a million bucks, an apartment in Copacabana, a mansion in Paris, a jet to travel throughout Europe, an Infinite Visa Card, and all the while banging her like a loose screen door in a hurricane.”

The teacher, shocked and not knowing what to do with this horrible response from little Larry, decides not to acknowledge what he said and simply tries to continue with the lesson.

"And how about you, Sarah?"

"I wanna be Larry’s whore ..."

I will let you know the correct answer to the question as soon as they verify my ticket is the sole winner.

After the IRS and state and local tax agencies get done with you, you might be able to afford this. As is, where is.

I am thinking along the same lines. Who cares about Tokyo, a private island in the Bahamas is much better. With this kind of $$$$ I would be perfectly happy with King Air 350 for my own flying and if I needed to go transoceanic I would charter some larger aluminum tube with professional crew.

I'm waiting till the pot passes $1Billion so that I can turn my $2.00 into around $350Million lump sum, after taxes.

This.

Hopping into the KA for a 2 hour trip to the Keys is a fairly easy trip. Hopping into the GXXX for a trip to Europe requires a LOT more flight planning and more derriere' in the left seat time than I like. Netjets or First Class over big water for me, thanks.
