Captains on transatlantic are making very good money, according to my student's parent, who is a captain for China on the 744 and 350. He makes about 50% more than I do.

Only problem is that he says it gets boring real fast. Too bad.

Actually, US legacy airline captains are by far the best paid in the world. Many of them hit 300k/year +++.
So no need to fly in China for that.

Why not FedEx or UPS? I personally know two guys, one who recently upgraded to captain on the MD-11 at UPS and another who flies FO on the 777 at Delta and they both make six figures, not to mention their retirement from the Airforce. As mentioned above, you wouldn't need to fly for a foreign carrier to earn an nice paycheck.

Well, far more attractive FAs are a bonus.

Probably easier to get on with a foreign airline than a legacy in the US.

Nope, a lot of them need heavy PIC time. Getting into a legacy is the easiest thing in the world at the moment. Just get hired by a regional with a flow.

All the FO requirements I've seen just seem like ATP mins in addition to time in type. Seems like all the Chinese and Indian kids have jobs waiting for them after they finish their FAA commercial multi. I guess they're just super connected?

Those mins are far from competitive though. China mostly hires expat captains and getting those jobs is far from easy. If you're ever bored and if you haven't, go and download the e-book "Flying upside down". It's absolutely hilarious.

Yep, an average Chinese/Indian kid has no chance on getting a job back home without daddy and his connections. That's how it works over there.
That's why a lot of them are completely useless, their parents decide their career paths for them. There are obviously exceptions, but it's kinda sad when you think about it.
Same system in Korea too.

Just a note: Eva Airways and China Airlines are Taiwanese (not mainland). There's a difference in the treatment, but both Taiwanese and mainland airlines are paying a LOT.
