And college football is underway!

Currently watching the brave, gallant lads from Ga Tech battle the godless horde from Colorado. 10-7 GT with 2 minutes until the half. It should be 17-7, but an over-zealous official with an early whistle killed a GT fumble return for a TD.
 
Sloppy, sloppy game by Tech so far. Apparently, the initial TV crew must have been arrested or something and these guys are last minute fill-in's. There's no way ESPN intentionally rolled out commentators (and production unit) who are this bad. More cliches and less informed commentary than you'd get from a televised HS game.
 
Agreed. GT is making way too many mistakes and getting too many penalties, the officials are amateurs, the commentators mostly boring (though I did chuckle at the “4th down and Buckhead” line), and the production quality poor (can’t they get the ref’s mic to work?).

But at least it’s football.

I’m waiting for teams to start bidding against each other and players to swap sides during halftime.

That was sad. I don't think we did anything well. Mentally, physically, strategically, nothing. Key just got a revised contract. It better have a 5 and 7 clause to claw most of it back, 'cause that's what it looked like tonight.

The blocking was pathetic. Key better pull it together. They looked like a high school team last night. Make that junior high.

Maybe they can recruit some more talent from the NFL; I've heard that's a thing now. I wonder - is there actually any rule that precludes a person playing for both the NFL and College at the same time?
 
I didn't get a chance to watch it, but I kind of expected this. Colorado wanted it more to avenge last year and from listening to Tech coaches and players for the past few months, it seemed to me that they just expected everything to go their way.

Maybe they'll get it together before #20 UT comes to town.

According to Dabo Swinney, even if there were a rule, someone would object to it and the NCAA would go with it. Sad.

When I read what you said, it reminded me that Coach Prime actually played for the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons at the same time. One week after a Falcons away game, Sanders was put on a stretcher, given IV fluids and Oxygen and flown to Atlanta, where he joined a Braves game in progress. If you like nothing else about him, you have to give him credit for doing whatever it takes to win.
 
The Mean Green are 40 point underdogs to the national champs. Our entire team and coach transferred to Oklahoma State so my expectations are very low this year.

In my pollyanna world, admissions officers would enforce application deadlines and registrars would enforce enrollment deadlines. That would take all the eligibility discussion off the table. Assuming being an enrolled student is still a requirement. IDK.

Schools move mountains to enroll athletes in key sports (Football and Men's BB). Forget the intent of "college sports"... we gotta WIN!
 
Watching Miami beat up Stanford. Probably going to head for bed at halftime; not worth staying up for this one.
 
Auburn v Baylor was a good game! Teams were fairly well matched, and the game went right down to the wire. Outstanding tackle by Auburn to prevent the 2-point conversion with ~9 sec to go.

Had hoped to see a bit of LSU v Clemson, but they're on a rain delay. Even if they get started I won't be able to see the end.

I like Baylor's call to go for 2. It didn't work out, but that's a team to watch. Great game.

Watching UF now, so far it's a yawner....
 
Watching The Cheaters Up North (tcun) need the BIG replay officials to allow them a second Hail Mary to defeat Western Michigan, POd me! Wow! Here is picture evidence that the game should have been over. Ball is between goal post and guy in that baby **** yellow. SMDH.

Yeah Western Meatchicken got robbed. The Big10 commissioner's statement was a bunch of BS as well. Hopefully OU can serve up an official loss at the big house next weekend to help avenge them.

I can’t wait until we start to play our ‘Pro’ players. Clemson got off easy only having to face the lowly ‘unpaid’ squad.:rolleyes:

I can't see how this game should have ever been played. Maybe TN State got a lot of revenue sharing money???

That's often exactly the case for these sorts of games. Every year you'll see several instances of some small college with a low-level athletics program getting squashed by a big-name school. But such games fund much of the small school's athletic program for the year, and it gets the school publicity it otherwise would never have.
 
It was about 110 in the stadium, 3rd quarter, and Georgia had just brought out the mascot as the back up quarterback. Stadium was less than half full I would guess. And when they pulled the camera back, you could people still leaving.

The only solution to be "family neutral" is to be a fan of the school I now attend, Chattahoochee Tech aviation A&P school. Apparently we are the Golden Eagles.

Suggestions appreciated on what sports I should organize for the Golden Eagles. What kind of shoe endorsements, NIL deals we should be looking into?
 
Just turned on the Miami vs FAMU game. This must be FAMU’s season fundraiser game. Halfway into the 3Q and it’s 63-0. I think I’ll just go to bed.

I was hoping Miami vs Clemson might be an interesting game, but so far Clemson is pretty disappointing. Ga Tech has a bye week, so at least we didn’t lose.

Watching the finish of GT vs Duke almost put me into cardiac arrest. Had Duke’s 2nd string true freshman place kicker not missed a FG with only a few seconds remaining, the game would have gone into OT.

Tech is still making too many dumb, dumb mistakes. I think they gave Duke’s offense four 4th-down conversions on penalties. GT isn’t doing fundamentals well; too many missed blocks, missed tackles, etc.

Watching Virginia bs Syracuse at the moment. I can’t watch the U (sic) GA vs ‘bama game; I’d like for both teams to lose. Maybe the two teams can cripple each other..... :devil:

I sort of agree. But this week, 'Bama is my second favorite team.
