Can it be done by providing Textron/Cessna with airplane serial number?
Door lock doesn’t work after much fiddly, wiggly, lubricating effort.

They sell complete key and lock sets online. Might take some digging but they are out there. Ordering from Textron will bankrupt a billionaire...

Yes. But sometimes cheaper to check with local locksmith on options. Or buy after market door lock assy and have 2 keys which is usually the most economical route.

My 182 came with an ign key that was different from the door lock & bag compartment. They looked close. I had a copy of the ign key made and filed it until the door locks were “fiddly” enough where they would work. Still works in the ignition without any issue (more important than door locks).

Might want to try to get a newer sharper key made and see if it works if yours is worn just enough to not work. I heard there were like a total of only 7 different Cessna keys out there.

Easier would be to take out the cylinder and have it re-pinned. Or take out the pins that are different and keep only the ones that are the same.

Or just take out all the pins. :)

Doubt there are any pins to remove. These cheapassed cabinet locks are almost certainly disk locks and easily opened by just jamming a screwdriver in and turning.

for my c172k the exact door and baggage compartment locks were same used in 1950 era file cabinets. I found an old lock smith that had some and he rekeyed for same key. there's a bunch of locksmiths online you can email a photo for a match.

Get rid of the cabinet lock and buy something sturdy. Medeco is my recommendation. Not cheap, but worth it.

Thank you for this. That’s the direction I’m gonna go.
