How often to fly after getting pilot's license

I'm with the others on trying to fly at least every weekend for now. We're getting well into the Spring with Summer and Fall Wx ahead. Sure, there will be some weekends you can't fly, but take advantage of every one you can. Take advantage of all your friends that can now go FLYING!! with you to some lake, town or just an Airport hundreds of miles away for lunch and... they can split the cost! Be sure to emphasize the GO FLYING!!! when you talk to them.

The Fall may have lots of gloomy days, but once Winter hits, you'll still be able to do a fair amount of flying in the NE, so that will still keep you current. You'll just have to be watching the long range Wx and see when those winter highs with often bright blue skies will be coming through. (Well... as long as the Wx isn't what you guys had last year!:D)
I'm definitely a foodie and probably will start looking at other airports in my area that has a good airport restaurant or town with good food.

The weather is sure going to play an important role in my flying. Winter simply doesn't have a lot of good flying days. If last winter had taught me while waiting for my checkride, it's either clear skies but super windy conditions or calm winds but low visibility/ceiling/precip.

Not sure of the status of any of these restaurants, but Sky Manor (N40), Flying W (N14), Ocean City, NJ (26N), Ocean City, MD (KOXB), Tangier Island (KTGI) all come to mind down by you. Probably a lot more.

For longer flights and possibly even a weekend, consider Block Island (KBID) or Nantucket (KACK). Longer flights, yes. But will keep your skills up on Airspace, talking to ATC and planning a long flight with LOTS of airports to divert to if needed. And worse case there are the NE Trains. Now the trick is to pack a bag and if the Wx is still going to be okay the next day and you and your pax are in the mood, you often can find a room the same day, if not, you fly home as planned. We learned years ago not to book a room since they all wanted multiple days and had strict cancellation policies... But people do cancel. So if you call around and ask if anyone had a cancellation and do they want to rent just one night, you'll often find someone that will. Martha's Vineyard is also nice, but spread out. BID & ACK have one central town. We frequently went to BID and took a cab into town because we were hungry :D, then walked around and eventually walked our way back to the airport. (Short hop when were lived back east and flew out of FRG.)

I disagree. Save your time and money for flying an airplane. Sim is fine entertainment, but it is not the same.

I agree. Sims can be good for practicing IFR flight and shooting approaches, but they just aren’t the same as stick & rudder flying.

As a new pilot, I'd fly at least weekly as well once a month or so with a CFI for some "new pilot coaching". Even if you've got 500 or 1000 hours, it's still a good habit to fly with a CFI to get another POV on your technique, maybe they'll notice something you're not aware of, etc.

I'm currently looking at Ocean City Airport NJ (26N) this Friday for brunch/lunch and a little walk on the boardwalk.
