There I was, just yesterday, driving through California in a rented Mazda. Enroute from Madera back to San Jose. Gosh, I was hungry. There's really not much out here, considering we're two hours from the superlatively fine dining of Silicon Valley.

And then I saw it... gleaming like golden arches. Well, no, not like that at all. But I saw a Carl's Jr.! Never eaten at one, though I love the tv ads.

And I thought to myself: "What would 6PC do?" Of course, he'd pull the chute after making a video.
What would Cajun_Flyer do? Forget it - I'll never be that cool. (But she'd add whiskey, for sure.)
More helpfully, what would SacArrow do?

He'd eat. So, I did, too. (Note - while this is an homage to SacArrow, no Asian women were harmed during this meal. Heck, none were even seen.)

What the h#££ is that? A lettuceburger?
Isn't that the sort of thing one must be wearing only Lululemon while eating?
That thing deserves to be cut in half with a knife and left for the wildlife while a search is initiated for some decent ribs.

I drove through Madera for the first time at the start of March. (our place is between Fish Camp and Oakhusrt and the South entrance to the park was closed)

It's bigger than I expected. Plenty of shopping and eateries. No place for an airport though. [now this is an aviation thread]

Actually, there's a nice airport at Madera. At least the part I saw. [All aviation, now!]

WOW! That's 3mi NW of what I saw... Coming across by car from Oakhurst it didn't seem to have much flat places for a runway.

I think flying Candy to the cabin is on the bucket list now!

Thanks for the tip.

KMAE.

There are lots of airports around there, not all of them charted.

Thanks for the flowers, all.

There is no good way to get from Madera. The way I (capitalized for inflection, as well as grammar) would go is north on the 99 to the 152, jumping over the mountains to the 101, which will bring you in from the south. Alternatively, if you didn't want to deal with twisty mountain roads, you could go all the way to the 580, hop over the Altamont and then go back down the 680. Depending on the time of day, it might be faster, but it's a lot farther.

Assuming that @G-Man did the former, then the only logical location to stop for Carl's Jr. is here: (don't be fooled, the road is 152/33. G-Man probably stopped at the first one he saw.)

Otherwise you're already over the mountains and it would make more sense to get better food in San Jose. And I do know the way. Now, one thing G-Man didn't realize, or perhaps he did pick up on it, is that a lot of cities in the Central Valley are named after scatalogical reference. Ripon. (rip one). Los Banos. (The bathrooms.) Why would you stop in Los Banos to eat. Los Banos smells like cow farts. Actually the whole Central Valley smells like cow farts. I can smell Harris Ranch at 5,500 feet.

Damn. I may need to go do the same thing. Eat a lettuce wrapped burger that is, not drive to Madera.

And by the way, you won't find Asian women in Madera. Well you might in a Chinese restaurant but there are a LOT of Latinas.

You mean, like Turdlock, Waterloo, or Fowler?

Worst smelling city in the valley...Sacramento

Full of excrement

Oh and by the way @G-Man can find his Asian women here:
...

The ones you find up front in one of these, you're keeping to yourself are you? :D

Man, I go away for a day and it's naught but anarchy and bedlam.
SacArrow is scarily correct re: at which Carl's Jr I dined.
And I did notice the scatalogical references! Los Banos was unexpected, indeed.
The Way to San Jose is paved with good intentions.

See you all at Sun n Fun on Tuesday or later.

Dude I write about **** like that for a living...

You know, I never realized how ****ing doable Dionne Warwick actually was.

because of the over bite....you call that meal a Warwick?

Possibly.

This thread inspired me to visit my own local Carl''s Jr. since I am on my own for dinner tonight. I picked up a (lettuce wrapped) Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger and I ordered a (lettuce wrapped) 1/2 lb Guacamole Bacon Thickburger.

I said "ordered" on the second because what I actually got, was just a standard 1/2 lb Thickburger. They got the 1/2 lb right, and the lettuce wrap right, so it wasn't like my burger eating experience was diminished, I simply overpaid for it. No, I'm not driving back there to call them on it.

Sometimes I get the drunk munchies. I drink, get the munchies, go to the massage parlor, get all weirded out because there are these sickening looking dudes waiting in the lobby that look like they need to pay for it because quite frankly they do, and wonder why I'm in the massage parlor and not the fast food restaurant, and I chalk it up to a latent childhood or early adolescent need to engage in babymaking sessions. Except I'm a cheap bastard plus I don't particularly want to explain the phraseology of 'babymaking' to a San Mateo County judge in front of a bunch of gang bangers headed to the big Q. That's San Quentin. Home of Charles Manson.

How the hell did we end up here.

From burgers, to babymaking to San Quentin. Maybe I feel like I'm in jail. Prison. A prisoner of my own burger craving desire. Burgers own me. Asian chicks think they do but they neither like nor understand burgers that much. If they did, they would get very defensive and jealously keep their white guys away from fast food restaurants that employ flame broiled cooking equipment.

Anyway, it's very much like a babymaking session. You desire, you consume, then it's over. Then you want more. But unlike a babymaking session, you want food right now. After a babymaking session you just want to flee the county and hope to god you haven't actually created one. Bad analogy. Terrible analogy. God in his Holy presence itself shuns the analogy. You create baby, you wipe ass, you fund college, you deal with potential boyfriends with passports from the Maldives and you...

Please. We're just trying to enjoy a burger here. I enjoyed two. I need a third. What the hell. It's an addictive drug. Those that crave lettuce wrapped burgers have never had one nor have they traveled to Asia or San Francisco.

I'm actually pretty ****ed up right now and that's a bad thing because it isn't even Friday yet. It isn't even Monday yet. Yes it is Monday, in Saigon. Never mind. Carry on.
