One day car rental at KSAT from the main terminal, cheapest car being a mid size SUV at $23. Great!

Same airport, but FBO pick up, cheapest car is a little economy car, costing $114 per day!

And the SUV that is just over $20 at the terminal is $138 at the FBO.

No thanks, I'll use Uber.

Delivery to FBO? Takes one employee out of the routine at the terminal, additional risk, etc?

I don’t think that’s it. They say they have Hertz rentals “on location”. Plus, the drive from the terminal to the FBO is like less than 10 minutes. Employee would be away for 20 minutes tops. The price difference is $115. Are they paying their employees $375 per hour? If so, i’ll go work for Hertz.

Beats me. When I've done it I've received just as good pricing at the FBO. But when I do that, I generally do it through the FBO. If I saw that kind of discrepancy, I'd aks the FBO to drive me to the main terminal.

My assumption would be that there are enough FBO customers who aren't worried enough about it to actually check and they're happy to upcharge them.

Because people going into the FBO will pay it.

I mean look at all the other nonsense fees FBOs charge, unfortunately it just becomes normal after a while

When I flew charter the company would arrange all the rental cars for crew & pax, I don’t think they ever saw or cared about the price +/- a few hundred, it just rolled into all the fees for the flight.

...I even sometimes get a better price through the FBO. I was shocked a few years ago. I have a leftover corporate membership with National which never gets beat anywhere there is National. Except once.
