Well, no idea what happend before he starts filming.

The kids are idiots too, just being punks and instead of simply ending the situation by leaving they decide escalate the situation and antagonize the dude in the truck, who's already ****ed, even further .

Dumb and dumber

A little Anger Management cou seling seems in order.

Nothing to do with booze or drugs. He'll get his next medical just fine. Might not keep his job with a felony conviction, though.

I know thousands of people that have driveways with double yellow center lines and white shoulder lines.

I seriously doubt he gets convicted of a felony. It will be pled down to a misdemeanor or two. Either way, dude is nuts.

Perhaps their actions exacerbated the man's anger, but they were on a public right of way. The county or state owns that road and the shoulder on either side. As long as they don't cross the fence, clearly marked "no trespassing," they are within their legal rights to be there.

Do you think their family would find solace in knowing they were in "the right" after they get their dumb butt run over?

I like my life, I'd just de escalate the situation, apologize and drive away, I wouldn't try to start crap or be putting a video camera in his face.

Certainly not, but young people do stupid sh*t all the time. I sure did.

Sounded like the cameraman did try to de-escalate the situation, and at one point asked to be allowed access to his car. He repeatedly said "sir."

If it were me, I'd apologize and get the hell out of there. But I'm wiser now than I once was. ;)

Even as a kid I didn't screw with people like that.

Is also be interested in th interaction before the kid decided to put a camera in that dudes face.

Rednecks in trucks and SUVs usually don't like city people in expensive sports cars. (though that Expedition probably wasn't any cheaper)

There are dumb people out there. Great. Now you know. No getting rid of them. Rednecks, just like other dumb and smart people, have the unfortunate right to reproduce. No license needed.
Just watch the documentary Mike Judge made in 1999, it is called Idiocrary. :)

I love the big fat guy putting his finger in the chest of the kid weighing 120 lbs and calling him a *****. You're really tough to confront him.

The first person with a CHL to shoot someone legally in Texas reminds me of this situation. A smaller guy cut off a big guy in traffic in Houston. The big guy was really mad and cut off the smaller guy, cornering him and getting out of his car to walk back and threaten the smaller guy. He was reaching in the car and hitting the guy when he was shot and killed. Dead because someone cut him off in traffic and he couldn't take it...

If the video above had been shot in Texas, they would have been in their rights to pull a gun for defense and potentially shoot the guy. A vehicle is considered a deadly weapon, and when he pulls around and gets out, he's looking for a physical altercation. Not a smart guy.

That guy is not a redneck. Don't insult rednecks by lumping them in with that pile of ****. If a redneck happened along that little scene the dude in the expedition would have found out there was a ***** there and it was not the young man holding the camera.

You wanna see a real redneck, come to FL. We have at least one of that big fat guy on pretty much every corner.

Stereotype much? I guess the redneck in the SUV is a close relative to the elitist ashhat in his airplane? And BTW, its an Excursion, not an Expedition.

As your mommy told you (or should have), two wrongs don't make a right.

If it was a public street, I only see one wrong as apparently did the San Diego law officers.

Cheers

Maybe take a breath, consider how it isn't really "FAA relevant" either . . .there are plenty of things I'll do when not flying that I wouldn't do in the aviation arena. You risk my lfe with an azz-hat move on the highway, you may see/hear things that would offend you. But if a controller or other pilot makes a mistake, or behaves badly, I'll save it for a quiet conversation on the ground. Like the Navion who pulled onto the runway as I crossed the threshold, no call. Called my go-around, side-stepped, and left him a note at the FBO desk. You could have read it to your kids without embarassment.

One thing I do know, the FAA is not the entity that I want arbitrating non-aviation behavior. Was the guy over-the-top? Oh yeah, out of control, though as someone noted, we didn't get the whole picture.

Should have had it printed up as a big sign and hung outside the FBO. If you're gonna call someone out, call someone out. :D

I completely missed the kids antagonizing the redneck. Unless you consider repeatedly calling someone "sir" antagonization. If you are doing something legally, stopping the act just because some ******** accosts you doesn't qualify as being the antagonist.

I agree with whoever said it's a good thing none of the kids had a CCL. He'd be one dead mother****er!

I couldn't see it either...in fact, I can't arm-chair quarterback anything those kids did as wrong...and I'm in the "deal-with-jerks-like-this" business.

And to those who need to see what happened before the video starts: what, if anything, would excuse or rationalize this guys behavior?

People keep saying we don't see the whole altercation, but no matter what they said, he had no right to race his vehicle at them to make them feel they were in harm's way. When the kid cusses at him and he gets out of the vehicle, he is the one escalating the issue and trying to make them afraid of him physically by pushing them around.

I highly doubt this kid could have intimidated this guy in any way. I also doubt he could have been cussing at the guy, provoking him, then turned on his camera and stayed as calm as he did.

I have seen many videos of police officers shoot people who drove their vehicles towards them. Justifiably so, in my opinion. However, I fear if the kid had shot this guy, the kid would be in jail.

Not when he was in the vehicle...rather immediately upon him getting out.

I think it depends on the state. Yes, in most he would be arrested, but I think he would win the case.

It's called threat assessment. This guy in the Excursion made a threat assessment of these two guys and decided they were small enough that he wasn't threatened getting out of his truck and approaching them. In fact, the knew he could physically intimidate them and he did. I'm not saying they should have shot him, but had one of them truly been afraid of physical harm, they would have had that right in a lot of states. He was 100% the aggressor. He should have left the scene (or at least backed off) and if he wanted to call the police he could have waited for them to arrive. These young men were trying to gather up their equipment and leave, but he kept escalating.

Press release from the San Diego County Sheriff's department. Love to see that this bully was booked into the Jail. :D Hope he enjoyed his little stay there.

The guys taking pictures of the car were surprisingly restrained, calling him sir and not confronting him on his claim that this was his driveway. I don't think I would have been as calm.

I like the image. Stealing it for my Avatar! Even though I'm as far from a bully loud mouthed redneck as can be (I think and hope :D  ).

SYNOPSIS:
At 12:20 today, Alexander Stone provided the Sheriff's Department with a cellphone video, capturing an assault with a deadly weapon which occurred yesterday on Rangeland Road in Ramona. In the video the suspect, who was later identified as Mark Wayne Gordon (02/20/64) of Ramona, can be seen intentionally driving his vehicle twice at Stone who was able to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. Gordon eventually exited his vehicle and physically assaulted Stone and an acquaintance. During the assault, Gordon knocked Stone's cellphone from his hand causing damage to the phone. No injuries were sustained by anyone involved and all parties left the scene.
After watching the cell phone video and obtaining Stone's statement, Sheriff's deputies from the Ramona Sub-Station arrested Gordon outside his residence on charges of 245(a)(1)PC Assault with a deadly weapon, 242 PC Battery and 594(b)(2)PC Vandalism. Gordon was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

Should probably think about banning all vehicles, they could be used to kill people. Unless of course, you just think it's a nutjob behind the wheel, and not the vehicle that's the issue.

I hope his mugshot gets posted so I can search his face for any hint of remorse or self-realization that he acted a dern fool.

It depends... Vehicles that are designed just to kill large numbers of people as their primary purpose should be banned for sure. Things like tanks, etc. Oh wait, they are already banned on public roads.

The reason has nothing to do with what tanks were designed to do. Even those that have had concrete poured down their guns are banned on public roads.

Have you ever seen what a tank track does to pavement? That's why.

Ownership of tanks has never been banned. There was some guy nearby who accumulated a few hundred of them, and even ran a local museum (mountain folk sometimes make some oddball, and not well publicized, museums -- this guy sure wasn't the only one), until he died and his estate really wasn't interested.

From getting into situations when I was right, but not in a good position, both in this country and abroad

I would have said "sorry, we'll leave" b lined it for my car and got the heck out of there, no putting camera in people's faces, no "sir, sir, sir, sir, sir" and arguing about how I'm right, who cares! When he runs your butt over being right ain't going to stop you from getting killed.

I'd wager in the amount of time it took for the situation to get where it was once the video started, he could have been long gone.

Picking your battles, little 120lb kid in a European economy car, vs a 200lb guy in a large truck, got to be a idiot to play that game, just frickin shut up and lay rubber out of there
