Any suggestions for headset friendly wraparound sunglasses (worse...with prescription lenses)? Everything I seem to find has wide plastic frames that I think will be problematic for the ear seals.

Pireps appreciated.

Clearly there are 2 solutions to this: contacts or lasik!

I've done contacts. Bounced back and forth several times between those and glasses. Both have advantages/disadvantages. I'm currently in a glasses phase.

I'm probably too old for Lasik and it would put me in readers anyway. My presbyopia has improved my distance vision enough that I'm comfortable without glasses in daily life. My aviation medical requires me to wear 'em though, and that's probably not gonna change.

Anyway, the thought of anyone cutting or lasing my eyeballs gives me the willies. The serious phobic kind. Ain't gonna do that unless it is a dire situation.

Option three: Clarity Aloft for the win! ;)
I've got a couple of sets of in-ear's. But I still want wrap-around prescription sunglasses to block the glare from the periphery. Yeah, have my cake and eat it too...

I have some prescription aviator style sunglasses from Zenni optical I keep in plane in case of flight towards the sun. Not really wraparound but IIRC they were around $50 or less. I also have a smaller pair of transitions style glasses I wear normally. None of them interfere with my headset.

My prescription is very mild and I don’t really need glasses but I find they cut down on fatigue when driving or flying so everything I have doubles as sunglasses. Never saw the point of buying an expensive pair, the cheap ones do just fine.

I too bounce back and forth, but normally I'm in glasses. I've found that my contacts tend to dry out in my 172 in the summer or winter due to the necessary airflow. I'd LIKE to go with the Lasik option, and I'm still young enough that it's justifiable, but it isn't exactly the cheapest option up front.

It's a 12 second procedure

I understand it happens, but I really haven’t noticed that much of a problem with glasses reducing noise cancellation. Sometimes i wear my glasses; sometimes my contacts.

Another Zenni customer here.

I've found that my ear cushions are soft enough to seal around even thick frames as long as the side arms are positioned close to the sides of my head. That means that the width of the frame needs to be as narrow as necessary to get the side arms there.

Tifosi reader sunglasses are awesome. The magnifying insets line up perfectly with the panel. One day I'll take an abrasive wheel to a pair and see if I can't flatten the earpieces.

I just rest the earpieces on the earseals.

If you’re talking about an Oakley Radar-type lens shape, I haven’t had much luck finding a flat and thin temple although their Sphaera Slash *may* be something to consider as would an M2 frame if you can find a slash style lens anywhere anymore. I have a pair of M2s set up like that I wear under shooting muffs without much interference between the muff and lens edge.

Their Holbrook metal line has worked well for me, but that’s not what I’d consider a wrap around lens shape. I’m actually in need of a mew pair of shades since someone helped themselves to my Holbrooks.
