i hate Halloween. Who is with me on this? What does the holiday mean anyway?
People are dressed up at work acting stupid. Tomorrow I will take my child house to house to get his surgar high. I could do without this holiday.
 
I'm with you. It's not an off work holiday so it's fairly useless.
 
Yes, a kid's holiday. Last year a lot of people got dressed up for work, but not so much this year.
 
It's one of my favorites. You have the Simpson's annual halloween gala, I used to get some great ideas from the old Roseanne show, and all my neighbors have awesome cemeteries in their yards.

I have a wood coffin propped up and I used to put on a suit and lay inside perfectly still. The kids will ring the doorbell, my wife will pass out the candy and as they turn to walk off the front porch, where the coffin is, I'll reach out toward them and growl.

Apparently some kid was scarred for life and my wife won't let me do that anymore.

It's valentines day that I hate.
 
I don't know, it's fun to see (some) women dress in slutty costumes! :yes::yes:
 
Hate it. No kids, not married. Forced to give out candy as a kid, not allowed to go out trick or treating even once. HATE IT! Simpsons special is alright but getting old.

BITTER? PROBABLY, WELL, YES!!!!

I used to enjoy it. But I'm a bus driver. I'm not looking forward to the kids running around my bus and the eggs they throw...
 
I enjoy watching my daughters have a great time all night, doesn't matter if I like it, they love it.
 
Our neighborhood does not have (m)any kids. So no local trick-or-treating on our street. So we give out all the candy to the minivans full of kids and greedy parents (from g*d knows where) begging for candy at every house on our street.

Simpsons HW specials are usually funny but we missed this year's episode. And it's not on YT, dangit! Anybody recorded it and is willing to share?

If you knew all the fata** chicks we do who dress as slutty nurses or whatever other costume allows them to wear a short short short mini-skirt and barely any top, you'd probably puke. I see more fat on the HW night than I see aggregate through the other 364 days of the year. :mad2:

I hated it even as a kid. I never cared for sweets, so not even the reward of candy at the end of the day made it worthwhile. For me, it was a just a day when my mother forced me to go door-to-door dressed like a jerk. I think I was 7 when she finally gave up.

Have not done it in a few years, but used to put on a pretty intense haunted house annually at a friend's place where people would literally bus kids into their neighborhood. We all came from a theatrical entertainment and technical background. Would get 400-500 kids through every year.

I like the holiday...making kids cry was fun!
 
I gave out candy to the trick or treaters last night and had a grand time. I don't dress up or anything anymore, but I had a good time when I did. Mrs. Steingar is in the "I don't like it" camp, so she's a bit of a party popper in that regard.

Personally, I'd love to dress up and go around giving treats to my neighbors. I think a good vintage of Scotch would do nicely.
 
Didn't decorate this year, but I love Halloween. Going to pass put candy tomorrow, then drive around some supposedly haunted roads and cemeteries later that night. Supposed to be rainy and windy to add to the effect.

You had trick-or-treaters last night? Did they look at the calendar?
 
I used to like it, especially when our boys were little, but now it's a pain because people drive their kids over to my neighborhood to beg for candy. It's a traffic jam, plus there's too many adults asking for candy (which really irritates me). I mean, I get that I live in a nice neighborhood, but there's very few kids and quite a lot of older retired couples who don't even answer their doors, yet they keep on coming, year after year. I'm not sure who's giving out such wonderful buttloads of candy, but most of the neighborhood no longer participates because of the crowds (and trampled yards, knocked-over plants and decorations, and trodden flower beds).

Otherwise, Halloween is fun! :D

I'm turning off my lights, putting up "No Trespassing" signs, moving my beer cooler next to my recliner, and turning on the baseball game.

Just kidding... I don't have a "No Trespassing" sign.

I hated trick or treating as a kid and I do not like kids coming to my door to beg for candy.

However, I do like seeing some of the outfits that adults wear especially at the bars and especially as others have noted, the slutty ones. It is quite entertaining. I also like the macabre nature of it to a certain degree.

Unfortunately, this is also true. The eager participants are usually the neighborhood sow. There are occasional "hot young Moms" to peruse, but they never dress slutty...not for Halloween anyway.

Some of my most cherished memories are of taking my kids trick or treating in WI and IA. This often meant snow suits under the costumes. We often froze, and it was miserable -- but I would give a lot of money to be able to go back in time and do it all over again.

In our 20s, before kids, we went to some wild Halloween parties, some of which I remember. Nowadays we buy candy for the few trick or treaters and eat most of it ourselves... :)

Thanksgiving is the only worthwhile holiday.
 
When we lived in Aptos, CA we, along with one of our neighbors, had path lights from our front doors to the public sidewalk (similar to the ones in the image below.) Two years in a row someone on Halloween night would rip them out and smash them. So we didn't replace them the second time (neither did our neighbors.) Another year we had a crowd of rowdy trick-or-treating young teenagers force their way into front door foyer when I opened the door to them and the biggest kid started helping himself to the candy bowl I had. Somehow I got them calmed down and out of there without having to get physical - but it bugged me that I had to deal with spoiled kids who were no doubt from the area, which was mostly upper class.

Thankfully we live in a rural area now and haven't had any trick-or-treaters in all the years we've been here.

Oh yes, Halloween. Probably my favorite holiday in my twenties, a decade of which I spent plenty of time on he prowl. Halloween was good because it followed the autumn breakup season so you always had a fresh crop of single girls out looking to have fun. In the days before tinder you had to be strategic. So alcohol, slutty costumes, short days, and cold weather was always a recipe for fun evenings...sigh.

This year the wife is dressing our 7mo up and parading him around the neighborhood so I guess it's still fun. But I'll always have memories...
