    Sigh. There was a time when retirement looked possible. Then came September 15. Now there is deflation everywhere, the Federales don't want to bail out CitiBank, Caterpillar's subcontractors are beginning their layoffs, the Dow is at 8000. My parent's and my inlaws' portfolios got smushed.

    Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. The joints creak, but the message is....."keep working, doc...."
